So a pal of mine who was in our fuddle is now in Australia for 3 months. He has put a few photos up today and he is at the BMW Australian PGA Championship in Brisbane. One of the holes is the party hole. It looks very similar in concept to the hole at the ? Phoenix open.
Is this the way forward to get people coming to golf comps.

Thoughts.

I don't think we'll be seeing one at The Open anytime soon, but yeah, why not...

If people are paying hard earned cash to be entertained at a golf tournament, why should the entertainment be restricted to just the golf.

It's the lesser tours we need people at, LPGA etc. I'd say the major tournaments are set out just right and there are alternatives for those who want to party at golf. It is not a positive strategy ar all.

Not my bag....especially when it boils over like it did at Phoenix a couple of years ago..
But as long as the crowd respects the players and keeps quiet while they're trying to do their job it's not the end of civilisation as we know it.
Would anyone else like people shouting and hollering, slopping weak beer all over the place while they were doing their job..?
There's a time and a place.......

Seems to be the going trend.

Nothing but classless hillbillys.
In a country that is even taboo to say 'poo" in public, to allow uncontrolled consumption of so much water is just plain bonkers

If it keeps those dickheads that yell "mashed potatoe" or "get in the hole" from 450mtrs out of all other holes, than I love the party holes. Keep those dickheads away from the actual game

I don’t mind them, I’d most likely visit the hole if I was at the tournament but possibly not for long 👍
^^^^ What he said

It would be a fun exeperience for a spell, then I'd move on.

I'm sure it brings more people and so more money into the tournament and into the players pockets. If the players hated it, they would just miss that tournament. Most seem to embrac it as a bit of fun. I wouldn't have one at every tournament but a few per year, yup.

It’s a gamble for those who decide these things.
They are hoping to gain more different/younger fans by making the game seem more young and hip and hope to still keep the older demographic who will disagree with it but put up with it.
The gamble is they gain more fans than they lose.

By fans I mean people who will actually go and watch and spend their money so customers might be a better terminology

Problem I see with it is that it’s not just the one hole, so to suggest the behaviour or noise are confined is a little ambitious.

Anyone who saw the Solheim Cup when it was held at Finca Cortesin cannot possibly have missed the music blaring out from the 1st tee. You could hear it regardless of where the footage was coming from on the course. It carried across the entire course.

Sorry. Not for me.
