I need both in my life. Wouldnt like to lose either :D

I have found links more enjoyable though as i play it less and its usually a treat

I am a member at both and links just shades it for me, really enjoy both, and feel that, links is a tougher test IMO

Parkland for me. I love the history, tradition and challenge of a Links course but week in week out would find it too bleak and austere. I like trees and prettyness and squirrels and suchlike!

The bleakness can be beautiful too - not so much in a 30mph wind though!

The links course I was a member of had 30+ breeding pairs of Hares on the course (self regulating population) and plenty of bird-life around - it is beside Aberlady Bay.

Parkland courses can be beautiful, but can get a bit samey. you can play a links twice a day for a month and the conditions, so golfing requirements, will never be the same!

Before last Monday I would have said Parkland, but having played Royal Portrush I have to say links. If you asked Heathland or Links it would be a much harder decision.

If it's good a course it doesn't matter.

However, if I had to play one type of course for the rest of my life I'd choose heathland. It's what I grew up with. The pines, and heather and that lovely light soil and firm turf just make me want to play golf.

Having said that, links golf is a test like no other. The original form of the game and why The Open should always be played on a links.

I love heathland and links courses. I have top 10 lists of both types as I think they are really quite different tests.

The best course I have ever played is a links course - Royal County Down. I love it there and would never get tired of playing the course. However, if I told that I could only play one course for the rest of my life then it would probably be the Old Course at Sunningdale.

In writing this, combined with just having played 36 holes at the West Sussex on Saturday, I think I can decide and it's heathland.

I love links golf but heathland takes it. Most of my favourite courses are heathland when I think about it.

Parkland? Not even close.
