HID came clean on Thursday and owned up to getting a parking ticket.
I've asked her to relay the events to me (as she sees them) to launch an appeal.

Here's the crack......she found a ticket on her car "posted" exactly 11 minutes after the time expired. She found the attendant and queried the time. The chap explained "you have 10 minutes "grace" then the ticket goes on".

Interesting, the ticket has 13.15 written on it, but the discussion with the attendant took place by the machine that issues the original 2 hr ticket.....and that machine's clock said 13.12, which both of them agreed......he even offered to re-write the ticket....!!!

Have I (she) got a case, or can I waive goodbye to £60 for 8 minutes overstay.....

Wave goodbye, I'm sure they will take the word of the attendant over any member of the public.

Only issue I think you have a chance with is a disabled badge as they should take a pic to prove the badge was not on display on the dash.

Yes, that's what I'm sure will happen. She 'phoned the office and spoke to them about it (an hour after) and their line (officially, before reading the appeal) is that a) the warden would not have offered to re-write the time and that
b) if the time on the machine read 13.12 and they agreed, then the warden would simply say that my missus is lying.

It's quite disturbing how someone can sit in an office and effectively condone dishonest practises from their attendants.....

I do know a legal loophole, but I don't want to enforce it, not when they can step down, and waive it on the grounds that there is no incontrovertible proof (either way) that the warden didn't make it up. :(

They take a photo of your car beside me ,its a joke ,there like vultures always lurking around, :(

Yes, they took a photo, 5 minutes after my wife returned.....I expect they will claim that the meeting never happened at 13.12 despite the fact the girl at the office actually agreed it had......

Some car parks offer a deal whereby, if you have arrived back at the car not long after its expired you can purchase another ticket from the machine. Now what you do is send this & the one you've been given by the attendant & then everything is written off.

Although I do think you have a case as he may have missunderstood the 10 minutes grace situation, so You may have a case, though for an easy life it might be simpler to simply pay the fine, as to get into wrangles could potentially cause you a bigger pain. That said I really think you have a good case. Though if it werre me I probably would send a cheque (post dated...lol) & then make my case to them whilst they wait to cash it. And yes I know you are not suposed to write postdated cheques.

You may as well just pay the ticket, or bang your head against the wall trying to get sense or sympathy from a Traffic Warden/Parking attendant.

I agree with Mono, you can wave goodbye to some sterling.

Currently I have 9 points on my licence. Clocked doing 78 in a 70, 56 in 50, then 46 in a 40. Harsh, but the facts speak for themselves.
