The shops are closing for weeks, there will be no chance of getting any supplies of food or drink so you better stock up with weeks of supplies to get you through the holidays.
Or so you'd think.
Yet, when I look at the opening and closing times for Tesco it's closed for................................................................... 1 day. And who wants to go shopping on Christmas day anyway.
I don't know why it surprises me though, it's the same every year.

Honestly mate you would think people were never going to be able to get into a supermarket ever again! Some of the trollies I saw were against the law.....loaded up that much you could not see who was pushing them. Daft!

I've got a loaf of bread and a pint of milk....I'll be fine :)

The population of the UK has bloated and swelled since Bob was young.. something like 30 million more people on these fair isles.

Thats 30 million more who need to go to asda for sprouts and milk at the last minute before xmas, can you imagine what things would be like with the trading hours of old?

Thats a bit of an exaggeration! They never had Asda in 1938.

My wife just got back from initially Morrisons and then Sainsbury's.

She went to Morrisons first as its closest to the house and has some decent prices but it was rammed! Trolleys shored up like skips to get in as much stuff as possible! People pushing, shoving and simply being rude in their quest to grab what they could whilst attempting to weave in & out of the isles. She abandoned that and went to Sainsbury's which didn't seem as busy or as aggressive.

What is it with people, can they consume all the food they are buying?
How much will be thrown away!
Do these people complain about prices and then simply fill their wheelie bins ups!

..and she wonders why I won't go shopping with her..

Madness

See done & dusted thread. All done and no need to venture anywhere near a shopping centre car par of a supermarket or department store. Chilled day with nice lie in. Bacon sarnie cooking then shower, range and back for Liverpool Fulham later. Nice and relaxed

Same every year and I stopped playing the game many years ago! Tesco delivering tonight so we've fresh bread, milk, fruit etc and the pre-xmas shopping bill is the princely sum of £52 - so much the same as any other week then! We have some choccies from when they were half price and a turkey crown in the freezer but otherwise can't think of anything different I've bought. Well, actually there is a chocolate fudge cake for us to make ourselves sick on after dinner on Tuesday!

Dont forget a small port and lemon for your Auntie

Where's the panic?

Tomorrow I'll be collecting the bird, locally grown ;)...

Then Christmas eve I'll be out bright and early getting properly fresh veg and milk, also locally grown ...

Will be baking my own bread as and when needed over the break...

Supermarkets are for the rest of the year... Christmas is for having 'proper' food...

It's not panic for me, I just don't WANT to have to go shopping on Boxing day.. or the day after that... or even for several more days. I have to at some stage go to get the things I haven't got or don't normally have... bottle of Baileys, Christmas pud, mince pies, Christmas crackers etc and then there's a little bit of self indulgence.. extra box of chokkies, cheese board, mixed nuts...alcohol for the guests, some pressies of course, cards... crikey it adds up. Not a panic though... more like a CRUSH.
