i was at our agm last night and it's the first agm i have ever been to and it was epic to say the least.
our club is going down the hole and there's a lot of politics going on just now, people trying to get so and so out and vice versa.....it's unbelievable!!!there were some heated arguements at times but the facts are the club is making no money and it is struggling.....
i think over the last 6 yrs there has been a decline of over 300 members....thats a lot,and for a club that doesn't have huge amounts of members it leaves not so many.i think they said there is 150 adult members or there abouts....not sure about the seniors etc but i can't see that taking the numbers up by much more.in saying that callander does have a lot of senior members.
300 x £400(roughly) is a lot of money, and not only that the catering side and bar takes a massive loss because there is less members to frequent them.
the membership has went upto £475 and its the first increase in 2 yrs,it was previously £455 and i don't know what it was before this.this is my first year back and i didn't realise the dire state of affairs.
there's loads more crap going on but i can't type it all out just now,but what can be done?i'm not sure, how do you entice members in when there is nobody out there with the money.they tried with reduced subscription prices for new members and it didn't work.....
dunblane golf club has 700 members and at £600 it does well.they also charge a joining fee of £600 which is paid over the first 3 years.
