i was at our agm last night and it's the first agm i have ever been to and it was epic to say the least.

our club is going down the hole and there's a lot of politics going on just now, people trying to get so and so out and vice versa.....it's unbelievable!!!there were some heated arguements at times but the facts are the club is making no money and it is struggling.....

i think over the last 6 yrs there has been a decline of over 300 members....thats a lot,and for a club that doesn't have huge amounts of members it leaves not so many.i think they said there is 150 adult members or there abouts....not sure about the seniors etc but i can't see that taking the numbers up by much more.in saying that callander does have a lot of senior members.

300 x £400(roughly) is a lot of money, and not only that the catering side and bar takes a massive loss because there is less members to frequent them.

the membership has went upto £475 and its the first increase in 2 yrs,it was previously £455 and i don't know what it was before this.this is my first year back and i didn't realise the dire state of affairs.

there's loads more crap going on but i can't type it all out just now,but what can be done?i'm not sure, how do you entice members in when there is nobody out there with the money.they tried with reduced subscription prices for new members and it didn't work.....

dunblane golf club has 700 members and at £600 it does well.they also charge a joining fee of £600 which is paid over the first 3 years.

its a sign of the times,. all about dosh .is it folk cant afford to play or is there better deals at other clubs in you area. attract society groups attract juniors as there the future

Really sorry to hear that as Callander is a smashing track. I love it.

It annoys me when people can't pull together or work together for the sake of the club. Golf clubs can be rife for producing bitching sessions. People, members are often suspicious of committees despite voting them in.

Crazy!

Wull,

Organise a GM forum day at Callander, its fairly central. Nice track not too long. I'd cone along. Organise a round and meal deal. It'll nit save the club but it'll help bring in revenue.

i could certainly have a word and get a good price, obviously not too cheap as it might make matters evenn worse

the catering franchise is up for grabs again and because of this they can't even quote party groups that are enquiring already.

if people forgot about the inhouse politics and realised that numbers are falling, surley they would pull together. there course could shut and build houses on it. im up for a forum meet surely at least 20 would turn up. used to go camping that way (boy scouts)

I've been going to Callander for years and the last few years I gave to say the catering has been spot on. Its not 5* but its better than average pub grub.

Seriously consider an outing.

Our AGM isn't until March 24th. Will be interesting to see what happens this year. Being a club within a pay and play course seems to be even harder as the club members will be bringing up issues that the committee has no control over. Plus the owners of our course like to talk but very rarely walk.
Numerous club members left throughout the year I believe at least 30 during 2011.

But last week the asst in the shop showed me a list of names of people who did not renew their centre fees. Some of whom were in our club.
21x7 day members
4x5 day members
6x club 55 members (Tuesday+Thursday only)

Which is £18,935 in lost annual revenue from the centre and less to spend on the upkeep for remaining members.

The ladies club are getting so low in numbers they are close to losing their Club if they drop to less than 15 members.
Majority of people i guess 90% who left our place went to another club.
