Hi All

I know the more money buys quality but what are the best irons to buy for a budget of £300 or under (New and Second Hand)

Thanks

Irons are all about personal preference, you have to like the look and feel of them. Go to a used golf store and look at different models, maybe hit them, go on eBay, Bobs your uncle. If it was me personally I don't think you can go wrong with ap2's, in my opinion the best irons about.

I reckon the mizuno 850 irons are the ones you're after. The cast rather than forged 5-w  and for that budget you could get a srixon z545 reg shafted driver thrown in and a chomp

As it happens... :D

lol i take it your selling them

My son has some Callaway X2 irons. They are soooooo easy to hit. They've had about 3-4 new sets since they were released so you can get them new for £300. Alternatively get any set of premium brand irons second hand. Callaway, Ping, Taylormade all seem to be very user friendly yet high quality. Mizuno and Titleist for the bolder golfer.

I love it when people say buy this or buy that as it's the best. No it's not, they might work for you but doesn't mean they'll work for someone else.

He has come on and specifically asked for opinions so obviously values what others think? It's a forum and some people like discussing clubs so why come on and add nothing to the thread? Back on topic, with that budget you can get pretty much what you like second hand, it comes down to what category of iron you are looking at whether that be game improvement or more players clubs.

Ah OK in that case the OP should buy a set of Nike Vapor Pro blades, best clubs on the market

You could also try Benross. If you hunt around you may be able to buy a new set fitted for that price.
Excellent value clubs.

can get a brand new set for £200 online at the moment!

John Letters another to look at

six months ago when i took up golf i bought new JPX850's. the cast ones. £330 4i to PW. i didn't have a fitting or anything. just did some research and figured i'd learn to hit them. they've really helped my game i feel. dropped my rounds from 120+ in july to last weeks round of 85.
