Are they all this bad??

Never watched one before what's going on with the horses??The crowd aren't exactly jumping either.

Don't know who the guy is doing the compering but by god he stinks!

Let's hope the USA's golf is as stilted as his attempts at whipping up the crowd :D

Whats with all the tin pot marching bands playing the anthems?

Did you see the American soldiers? Surprised they could stand up straight with all the medals on their shoulders.

do we know the pairings yet?

Padraig Harrington and Robert Karlsson will lead off Europe's defence of the Ryder Cup in Friday's opening foursomes matches against the United States.

Three-time major winner Harrington and Swede Karlsson take on US pair Phil Mickelson and debutant Anthony Kim.

Henrik Stenson and Paul Casey head out against Justin Leonard and Hunter Mahan before Justin Rose and Ian Poulter face Stewart Cink and Chad Campbell.

Lee Westwood and Sergio Garcia are last out against Kenny Perry and Jim Furyk.

The opening ceremonies were so different of the ones in Ireland two years ago, at least the irosh know how to set on a proper show & find microphones that actually work. & how cardboard were those yanks. Talk about boring... Naff speaches from people you wouldn't employ to speak at a sales conference. What a breath of fresh air when Faldo go up & put a little bit of well needed humour into the precedings, zinger just couldn't follow it, even though he was cewrtainly more animated.. just than the other yanks who were speaking earlier.

Round one to Faldo.
Zinger nill.

I've always liked Faldo but he's not a natural public speaker and his slightly eccentric sense of humour flies by most people and I think is a wee bit misplaced on formal occassions like yesterday's Opening Ceremony and upon recieving the Claret Jug (heart of bottom thing). I think 4 wives would testify to Nick being quirky to say the least! He is an honest guy however and I respect him.
I was stood on St Andrews Old Course way way back in 1985 during what must have been the inaugural Dunhill Cup as a youngster and Faldo teed off with driver on maybe 5th or 6th, I can't remember exactly. Anyway you can stand really close to the players there and he hit a decent enough shot and there wasn't much applause. Nick turned to us all and jokingly said "Come on it wasn't that bad" whereupon we all gave him a clap. Greg Norman teed off with him, to say I was a little star struck was an understatement!

Do I get a prize for most pointless story of the week?

Point is Nick F is a decent enough guy, hope his team does well this week but I hope it's really close whomever wins.
