Ok, so who on here is up in the North of Scotland? I've seen a couple of you (patricks148 / fairmorn308) but wondering if there's anyone else lurking up here?

I'm in Nairn myself and joined Nairn Dunbar in June so slowly getting my game together. Doesn't help when the wind is howling up & down the course though!

Rob.

I went to school in Nairn in the 80's, Rob, and started my golf at Nairn Dunbar as a junior. I was also a country member for a while after moving to Edinburgh. Great course to learn the full array on shots on.

The highlight of the golfing career was winning the high handicap then low handicap sections of the 4 day open (as it was then) in consecutive years around 1989/90. I've since won the consolation stableford, the Hollow Bottom Quaich, too. Sadly I'll never get the full set (the scratch). Never be good enough to compete for that baby.

How's the handicap coming along since you started?

Pass on my regards to Mr Torrance next time you see him in the pro shop.

John

Aye, today wasn't too bad for wind but yesterday was a nightmare. Put me in mind of this year's Open with the ball wobbling on the green.

John - Handicap isn't registered yet. Just got my last card to get in & hoping to do that before the end of the week so I can play in next Saturday's stableford comp.

Certainly is a good course to learn the skills on! And I'll pass on your regards to David - see if he remembers you (and whether that's a good thing or not... :P )

I started my golfing experience on a 'big' course at Nairn Dunbar, I played the wee 9 holer at Inverness during the week and went down to Nairn at the weekend.

Bob MacKintosh was the pro/fee taker and he came out onto the course to collect the money but the good thing about this was the lesson given in exchange for the fee.

I was lucky to win the 'Duggie' 18 hole Open on a trip back home one summer. Duggie being the local upmarket menswear shop, my prize was a token for his goods and this meant I had to stay for an extra night so that I could choose my winners gear.

Weather....it may be breezy but if I remember correctly, it has one of the lowest rainfalls in Britain.

Nairn...a little bit of Heaven on earth!!

I was up in Nairn on Friday, Rob, and got a game at the Dunbar in lovely sunshine with my girlfriend on the bag. First time there in a couple of years. Loving the new bunkers on the 5th, 6th and 13th. As if it wasn't hard enough!

Started 5,3,2,4,4.........6,8......3,5. Spot the mistakes. Bloody game. It all went pear shaped on the back 9 but the course is looking brilliant.
