The Ping Rapture is back in the bag and its staying.

Had it out yesterday and after 3 holes I said to myself "what the hell are you playing at looking for a new driver?".

I have now had a long chat with a friend of mine (who is a professional) and also my local club pro and they have both told me that if I am consistant and like the Ping Rapture then dont change.

In todays market all top end golf clubs are much of a muchness and a new TM will not give you 30 yards extra compared to a Callaway or Tit etc. Even if the optimim shaft and launch angle are achieved during a custom fit a max of 5-10 yards extra would be the top end improvement on distance. As I am not after distance and hit my Rapture very very consistantly then their is no need to change at this time.

Interestingly enough I was also told today (by my local pro) that he wouldnt recommend a less than 10.5 degree driver to anybody these days.

Bottom line is I now have a brand new Callaway Fti driver with a Matrix Ozik shaft for sale, the shaft alone is worth £200, I have never hit the club and I'm only looking for £125 for it to get my money back.

Change for the sake of it!!!!!! I'm finished with buying golf clubs for another year. My bag is complete for 2009!
(for now anyway.....haha!)

Interesting post. I have been saying on here for ages that most people need 10.5 and above in their driver loft, especially newbie and high handicappers. That isn't to say those forummers in those categories or anyone playing with less than 10.5 are in the wrong before I get slaughtered. However I was told by several pros a few years back that most AVERAGE golfers would actually drive more consistanly and without too much noticeable distance loss with 11 or even 12 degrees.

I was fortunate to be one of the 3 invited down to the GM Titleist 909 Custom fitting day yesterday, and it was very interesting, as well as a great experience.
(Thx GM)

I wont give a lot away as I know its going to be a mag feature soon, but even with the benefits of 3 Heads & a multitude of Shafts to try, the best I could gain was perhaps 4/5ds on my current G5.

However, hopefully what we did was pinpoint a Shaft that will help me get better accuracy, which I think is the thing we ALL need with Driver in our hand.

To be honest, after what I saw yesterday, I would never buy an off the peg driver ever again, you really have absolutely NO IDEA if the shaft its fitted with will suit your game at all.

Its the Shaft you have to worry about, not the head.

I had wondered who the lucky blighters were who had got the Titleist day. Lucky lucky you. Jealous? a bit maybe.

I think this thread shows that not going c/f for a driver is an expensive mistake.
