Online Petition - Help save Blue Mountain Golf Club

Sorry but what is happening with Blue Mountain ? Is that near Bracknell - think used to play a Xmas thing there when in the RAF

That's the one , on the outskirts of Bracknell (Binfield). Funny enough I've played golf with a few from the RAF there over the years.

Blue Mountain is under threat from closure, the council wants to redevelop the land for housing, a school, relocation of Bracknell FC, etc. The section 52 agreement is key to the development because it was signed by the council back in 1992 and it was supposed to protect the course land for at least 125 yrs. They now want to tear that agreement up and if they succeed the development is likely to go ahead.

I'm gutted about losing a course that I have used on and off since it opened back in 1992. But I would be really really miffed if I live nearby. Some residents have the section 52 written into their title deeds. Imagine being told that land opposite your prospective house is safe from developers for 125yrs then when you move in find that actually it isn't.

I've signed it because there are too many golf courses in the the South-East of England under threat of development for housing or HS2! :(

Done and good luck with this.
I played on 'munis' for my first 14 years in golf, they are a great facility to get new golfers started, both young and old

No not really, the golf course operator (Crown Golf) would want to keep the course open. The land is only leased to the them so they don't really have any say in the matter.

The freehold is privately owned and its being offered to the LA for development of several hundred new homes, a school and new football ground.

Thanks again all for the tremendous support. 150 names added since last night (not all from here I know) but quite a few were. Only 40 odd more to go!
