New e-petition - Save Blue Mountain

I've signed this petition because, although I don't live in that area, I am a member of another Crown Group course, so will have one less course I can play for free. Bet some of the local council will benefit financially by redeveloping the site! Disgraceful behaviour reneging on a 125 year covenant!

P.S. have also shared this link on Facebook.

in which case it may be more profitable for them to let it be bulldozed..

Unless the developers have paid them a sweetener, I doubt that Crown Golf will gain anything as leaseholders. I understand that the MD of Crown Golf was pretty miffed by the whole thing, as their HQ is at Blue Mountain.

The sad reality is that houses have to be built somewhere. If we want to keep our green spaces perhaps political and economic policy is the front to be campaigning on.

If the politicians hadn't allowed so many immigrants into our relatively small country, we wouldn't need all these extra houses! Not being racist, just pointing out the logistics.

Another generalisation there

And signed the petition

I think you'll find the issues stem from Bracknell Forest going back on a previous 125 year agreement. Part of these plans are to move Bracknell Town FC to a new home. Now they are hardly world beaters and so why waste money and destroy a valuable public asset for such a meaningless action. The planned homes and schools involved will be inappropriate to the infrastructure and Bracknell is barely coping with the existing traffic on the roads as it is. This will exacerbate and nightmare situation. Nothing to do with immigrants and their needs

I think you will find that local councils are under pressure from the Government to built more housing to accomodate our ever increasing population. :mmm:

Agree they are under pressure. However there was a 125 year old convenant that the council walked all over. This is more than just building houses. It's about revoking an existing agreement, moving a two bit football club to a new home and putting schools and houses in an area wholly unable to deal with the new infrastructure. There are plans for Bracknell Forest to build over the other side of Warfield (neighbouring village to Binfield where Blue Mountain is located). There are plans in place to build without the need the convenient with absolute disregard. I beg to suggest you are looking at it far too simplistically when this has a number of specific local issues attached.

Indeed that is so.

However it's the blatant reneging on the 125 year agreement by BFBC - when future housing requirements were 'known' - that really gets up my nose! There is actually plenty of other land available in the area too, but BFBC have chosen this because it's 'convenient' to do so!

epetition duly signed!

It's great to see people fighting it but it's a real shame because it's looking like nothing can be done
