So this morning i went to try out some new putters, Odyssey *7 and the new Odyssey pro *2 ball. And i didn't putt better with either of them. LOL. So i went to the putting green for 2 hours, and started to put one handed, and it didn't take long before i was more consistent one handed. Now i don't know if i will have the bottle to do it when it comes to comp day. The reason i think its easier for me to putt single handed, is because i have bad putting posture. Putting single handed with my back straight, and its easier for me to use the weight of the putter to do its thing. Now i know some of uses are going to slate this, but instead of having a blocked mind, give it a try. I know i will be at it again tomorrow. One other thing i would say, i think its easier to putt single handed with an oversized putter grip.

Gareth, give it a go. A couple of my mates were finnishing their round and came over for a chat, and i even got them doing it. The first thing they said, can you imagine do this in a comp, we all looked at each other and started to laugh. Thats the only stumbling point, is what other people might think. Its like Ronnie the rocket, playing left handed, and swapping back to right handed. Open your minds guys. lol

I'm game for a laugh. I'm up at the course tomorrow morning so I'll give it a whirl.

One question though...... Left or right hand

Actually 2 questions

Seeing as it's better. Are you using it in the next medal or not?

I played against a chap who does it always, plays of 16, 3 putts regularly like us all and cant do it for the long lag putts........but if it works for you go ahead

Now thats a really good question. I used my right hand, but one of my mates preferred to use his left hand. I need to work on my first putt. Its not the same on the practice area. What the hell, i haven't got much to loose, why not. I hope i don't come in with another 43 points one handed. lol

funny i was trying this last week, i remember reading about years ago as a good tool to practice feel. wont try it on the course though next stage broomstick putters lol

I practice one handed all the time. I only see my left hand as a guide or balance, right hand is totally dominant. Saw a tip about it years ago and works for me. Wouldn't properly put one handed but its a good drill for letting the putter do the work

I've played with someone who putted one-handed (left handed).
Not a bad golfer - 8 at the time - but won The Brabazon in 1948! Captain of R&A a few years ago too.

Well, went to the practice green, pre work, and

...................... Didn't like it

Not one bit.

I can see the facination close in but trying to lag was a nightmare. I also fond myself opening my stance for some strange reason which played havoc with my alignment.

I'm not a bad putter as it goes so won't be switching anything in the near future

as I already intimated, think the drill was for 4-6 footers but at the end of the day why on earth make it more difficult?

next it will be "Try hitting a driver on one leg, goes miles and solid hits at last, only downside is I screwed myself into the turf"

Exactly DV.

I also had the feeling that the club was "twisting" through impact and gave me zero confidence in the strike.

I'm willing to almost give anything a go to improve my putting.

However I think if someone at my course spotted me using the belly putter AND using it one handed I might get chucked out.
