One for weather geeks

One really obvious thing to me is the lack of Blue on it. Everywhere except the poles are warm.

I suppose this is because the northern hemisphere is currently getting the maximum amount of sunlight so it will be relatively warm. And there is little land mass in the southern hemisphere which will be colder than the sea, so that is why there is not much blue in the southern hemisphere. But you can see how cold The Andes are very will, plus the south Island of New Zealand.

Click on the word Earth and change what you can see, it's a work of genius.

No idea what I was looking at!!

Clearly the work of a genius... who puts in the most stupid control panel imaginable. Probably the same genius who works for Microsoft and sets up the 'user friendly controls'...... erm, not!

I saw something very similar a few years back. It is certainty hypnotic

This only covers the USA but is also realtime (ish)

You can actually select historical events and view them unfolding. Hurricane Sandy shows the north east taking a right battering.

Also you can see why Chicago is the Windy city.....
