Can someone tell me how we ban the spammers please it is getting beyond a joke now.

Agreed, haven't been able to find a way of removing a users posting rights like we had on the old forum. Can we be notified of how this is carried out.

There also seems to have been a fair number of spam posts overnight. Has the site become more vulnerable to spambots ? The user registration seems to be easier to get through now than before.

I know I was moving posts for about half an hour this morning at half five!
 
I emailed Mike yesterday to ask him to ask the IT bods to change the permissions and settings for Moderators as it's currently set to the default.

You can give users an "infraction" by clicking on the post then on the bottom left hand corner of the user's post (below their name) there is a picture of two cards. This is where you would go to ban them etc...but at the minute Moderators are only set to give infractions of up to 10 days - this is fine for actual users who over-step the T&C's but we haven't been given the permissions to ban users outright yet, hopefully this will be sorted soon so we can ban users and IP addresses accordingly.

Also, I don't think it's easier for spammers, just that vBB is the most used forum software on the web and is more targeted than the ancient software we had before. Once everything has settled and everything has been set up correctly, we should find it easier to manage going forward. Just a case of grinning and bearing it through this teething period.

Trust me Gents - once all the kinks are ironed out and permissions are all set, moderating on here will be alot easier and alot more flexible. There's a reason almost every site uses this software for their forums.
 
Probably the original size of his avatar upload, the old software restricted size to say 80x0 pixels, the new software hasnt been fine tuned to that restriction.....yet.
I see IP addresses work now also, makes banning a little handier too :D Gonna need a bigger hammer.

Well I have 128 IP addresses at my disposal so let's see how long it takes to get through them all :D

Looking for a stiff shaft in the buy and sell section... Someone sold me some pills and to see if that helps, they come tomorrow!

If this is the most used forum software why is this site the only one with issues when I usemy phone?
