It’s getting a touch boring now isn’t it
Guess was the same when it was Paddyk or BIM guy

I would agree with you on a number of courses, but not mine. From the middle you've got a shot, from the rough/trees you might not get a full swing or a line to the green.Ok yes it grammatically made sense , but lacked meaning. It's just a platitude along with nonsense like the woods are full of long drivers and all the other tired sayings that get wheeled out when distance is talked about.
Give me the option of 140 from the rough Vs 200 from the middle of the fairway, I'll take the rough all day long please.
"Colleagues"? – we play golf as a hobby, not a job.I find my accuracy and shorter hitting seems to help me score better than colleagues that are smashing longer than me but hitting out of trees

How sad and pedantic
My point stands, give everyone on the forum an extra 10 mph and they will improve, with few exceptions.I would agree with you on a number of courses, but not mine. From the middle you've got a shot, from the rough/trees you might not get a full swing or a line to the green.

Is your village not missing you
If you already can't hit fairways that's a problem in itself, with or without more distance.Surely it’s very easy to understand
Hitting it longer is not great if you can find a fairway
It is - getting extra distance to someone who can’t find a fairway just puts them further into theIf you already can't hit fairways that's a problem in itself, with or without more distance.

Most should concentrate on keeping the ball in play first

That's not really unusual! The 'debate' on the last few pages seems to be drifting further and further from the subject of the thread.
Most courses have graduated rough/hazards. First cut, semi rough, thick rough, trees, OB. The further from the fairway you are, normally the greater the hazard. What does this even mean ? If youre in the ***, then surely it matters little how far in it you are ...

Thats just a convoluted way of saying the woods are full of long drivers. They are also full of short and medium range too.Surely even you can understand that going further into trouble could be the difference between hitting it out of rough or a hazard to being deep in trees ,
Ten yards could be the difference between getting an ok lie in light semi rough to gouging out in thick rough
Or ten yards further in trouble could be ob as opposed to chipping out of trees
Distance is not the be all
