My first attempt at a poll, so please excuse me if I make a hash of it.

In an effort to educate myself with a view to changing my attitude, what would you do in this scenario:

You get to the 3rd tee and see the 4 ball two groups ahead of you preparing to take their 2nd shots from the fair way. The group in front of you are on the tee box waiting for the fairway to clear so they can tee off. You then have to wait approx. 8 minutes on the tee box before you can tee off. You realise at this point that it's going to be a slow day as the course is backed up.

A couple of holes later following the same routine of waiting on tee boxes/waiting for greens to clear you are walking off the green to have a ball fired between you and one of your playing partners. There is a loud shout of fore.

Two holes later whilst waiting on the fairway for the green to clear you have a tee shot fired over your head. This happens again within the next two holes.

What would you do? Please vote.

Firstly when the shot is fired at you when leaving the green, I'd ask them to be a bit more patient when they catch up with you on the following tee. When they did it again I'd be tempted to fire the ball back at them. Oh and I'd also ask the Marshall to try and speed play up a touch.

After they'd fired the first one through, I'd have a word with them & accept it as an accident.
The second one fired through would either be 'mysteriously lost' or I would putt it back at them as far as I could.

Slime.

The first one I'd accept as an accident. The 2nd one I'd ask them what they were playing at. The 3rd one would get knocked sideways into the rough. If they wanted to discuss it afterwards, they'd be more than welcome.

Theres no point in them playing tHrough there going no where, so a wave of the arms after one, a shout after two and three is a quiet word and warning if continues its being reported to the committee.

Pretty much what the others have said. They wouldn't be let through as they have nowhere to go.

I had this happen to us a few weeks ago, a group fired and missed me by inches, they did it agin 2 holes later and hit my playing partner. Suffice to say they didn't try it again after that.

So someone can't hit a much better shot, as an accident? Does this mean you're one of the people who waits until the 350yard par 4 green is cleared before teeing off?

By that logic I shouldn't wait for a green to clear if I'm hitting a 240 yard 3 wood attempt because the chances I'll actually hit the green are small. If there is a chance you might hit them, you don't play.

First I would accept as an accident, the rest would be collected as balls are an expensive consumable and I would see them as donations to my charity of really rubbish golf and then have a little chat about it on the next tee box.

Come on guys keep voting. ... nearly three quarters of you so far have voted for the way we acted on the day.

I'd accept the first as an accident but if the course is rammed, why let them through if they can't go anywhere. Any attempts to bully or intimidate their way through wouldn't work and get the same short shrift those coming chasing up behind headlights flashing do

I know what the answer should be but even thinking about this makes me angry. If it happened once, I'd accept it could be an accident. More than once, I don't know what I would do - the thought of it infuriates me. You literally could kill someone hitting balls at them. If someone did it to me on purpose, I'm not sure which of the many options available to me I would pick but I'd be sorely tempted to call the police from the fairway and report an attempted murder.

Not too sure why a lot are saying the first was an accident. Pretty much everybody has a good idea of how far they hit the ball so they would have had a good idea that the players in front were in range.

I think possibly it was a case of ''watch me hurry these up a bit'' even more so as it was repeated twice more.
