Golf at the Olympics is a terrible idea, imho. Highly professionalised sports like tennis, basketball and baseball are bad enough without adding golf to the list.

Golf as an Olympic sport?
Could only work as matchplay, NO professionals (tennis, b/ball, ice hockey, baseball etc should be sufficient examples)
Would it draw a gallery? maybe over here, nowhere else

Agreed but 'tis already too late for that:

Golf is doing battle with softball, rugby, karate, squash, baseball and roller sports for one of a possible two available places for the 2016 Games.
