Id be interested to know how old your driver is and were you able to see a noticeable distance between it and something that you may have wanted to change it for....

I was at the range last with a Ping i15 and a Mizuno MX 500.....Now i know the Ping is a few years old but its still relatively new compared to the Mizzy......

I couldnt see much difference between the 2 and im actually going to take the Mizzy out tomorrow and Sunday to see if it will instill some confidence in my driving...
It seems a very good club and stayed a little straighter than my Ping and didn't seem to be as punishing on the not so good swings.
This could have been down to the Aldila shaft as well though.

Do you play an old faithful that can still keep up with the modern technology?

Cobra HS9 cracking driver keep taking it out the bag only to put it back in when i start struggling with the new toys.

have most of mine, going back 30 years (being left handed it's not so easy to get rid of them)

occassionally take them all to the range.....

the latest is the best by miles (well yards)

tm burner superfast, tm burner 09 TP, tm burner 09, tm titanium (bubble II), tm steel (bubble), tm flex-twist, tm pittsburg persimon, ping eye

I played a Ping G2 for years. I found it a great club and would still have it wete i not the beneficiary of Aztecs R11. If anything i found thr G2 longer than the Tm.

Might just have finally worked out how to use a driver in the last 2 weeks....
Driving straighter than I ever have and distance is more than acceptable.
Me or the club?
Both I think..

report back again in a few weeks I bet that's changed again!!
I know I'm being cynical but that's the few weeks I've had out there.

New is better. My (flawed?) logic. 20+yrs ago I was one of the longer hitters in the club. Nowadays I'm hitting the ball as far as back then but I'm 30-40yds behind the young bucks.

The clubs got 3 components head, shaft and grip. If you've got a 2000 era big cc driver with the COR approaching the limit, you're not going to get much more out of it.

Choice of grip won't do a lot. Custom fitting the clubhead for loft, headweight, CoG could help you to maybe improve (if you've not already got the best) launch angle, spin and trajectory. Same goes for shaft, you're wanting to optimise your launch conditions and can choose one to do it. Getting the right speed, spin and launch angle is what you can get from a fitting process.

Anything 2000+ may already work for you.

I have last years r11, a good hit with that is 270. The new r11s is about ten yards longer. At present, not enough to warrant an upgrade.

Interesting post on the Mizuno forum where the tour van guys got Chris Wood to hit a persimmon headed Mizuno driver, a T-Zoid and the MP650.

Stats were

Persimmon - carry 202.8 yds, total 241.9 yds
T-Zoid - carry 202.2 yds, total 251.0
MP650 - carry 270.3, total 291.9

From my own experience my last 3 drivers were Callaway HawkEye VFT, GBBII and HyperX. I'd say each was, if not much longer, far easier to hit than the previous one.
