This Thursday is grandparents day at the kids school. The theme is toys you played with as a kid. Ave been banging them out, the toys I played with. But one I dropped out with Missis T was taking a golf ball apart. She looked at me like I had two heads. So I went on to tell her about if we found a split golf ball we would peel one and then proceed to take the laggy band off them.
Now here's me problem, in the next half an hour I am peeling one of four I have in the garage, the Dunlop 65 is safe, so it is either the ? Golf tech gyro, APOLLO 3 or the C.B.G PRO 90B. ( made in USA).
So anyone else rip golf balls to bits and which should I not scarifice.

havent you got any penfold aces laying about Tashy ,we peeled them even when they were new. lol.
as for what you have listed the Apollo should unwind .
Peeling the Apollo now, 😁Gonna peel it but leave it whole and ask the lovely little runts "what is it".

We were a bit more extreme would throw them on bonfires in November then have to run for cover as the things went off like missiles.

One of my most endearing memories was cutting open a Titliest tour balata in front of my kids. They absolutely squilled with delight as the windings unfurled like a small animal going wild.
I then let one of them pierce the latex balloon with a pin (carefully aiming away from us) and again their shear joy as the latex shot out all over the wall. I wished I had aimed at the garden as the latex is still all over the wall today (abot 30 years later).

I remember doing this for myself as a child.

Brilliant, all three balls are elastic band free. They are later versions. To top it off, there's a Stanley knife blade shaped hole in me bleeding right thumb. 😖
That Dunlop 65 is having it tomorrow.

If it is an original Dunlop 65 it is not elastic band free, it is a wound balata ball.

I was reluctant to cut open the Dunlop Jim, I cut the other three open yesterday. The Dunlop is going to ball heaven later today. Probably the only ball I have ever lost without shouting " four right".

don't waste them Tash, send them to me to use with Hickory's
Will send a PM to me PP to see if they have any grubby balatas to take to the course tomorrow. If they have al send this one up to you. Didn't know folk saved them. Was in a charity shop last year and saw a box of 12. They were in original condition with the tissue paper around them 😁

it would be the soft old ball thats of use to hickory, trouble playing the modern ball is it looks very of putting when the ball is bigger that the head of the club;)

Never cut up any balls as a kid but remember playing in the street placing a pea tin in the middle of road with 6 sticks on it, 2 teams either side of road with ball aiming to knock sticks off the tin.

Can’t think what my granddaughter would think if I sent her to school with a pea tin😀

Got two penfold aces today off a PP, gonna have a go at surgery tomorrow 😁👍
