Hmm, I've read through all this thread an up to the last post I'm thinking that having played the par 3 in 4 strokes only to find this guy on the tee I'd have said something along the lines of "Are you still here, mind if I play down with you so you don't hold me up".

That said if you like playing alone then I can't see how you are going to sort this out other than owning your own course. The other option would be to have waited on the tee but invited the lady behind to join you to stop the bunching.

Final option, pick up your ball and walk sideways across a fairway until you reach an empty tee elsewhere on the course and then play the holes out of order.

I'd have shouted out "Oy slow coach! I'm letting the beast loose on you" then said to the woman "go hit your golfball at him you dangerous old hag!", and let her play through.
