I think he is allowed his say, just like all the others that bomb it with WHS is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
I don't think many, if any, have actually said that it's the best thing ever. Almost everyone seems to think it can be improved. The less negative side have mostly just been reactively questioning some suggestions that WHS is singularly dreadful. The poll certainly only went up to question whether it was universally disliked, as was suggested repeatedly.

This isn’t the only social media platform on the internet you know!

Have you done any of the stats I asked for yet?

Can you at least tell us what the exact tipping point is for being uncompetitive when we hit single figures? And from a decent sized data set, not just a few rounds at one club.
Indeed not, strange though that such a "long time" golfer such as yourself has taken 20 years to find this forum, just at a point where this topic has come up large?

I've already posted an entire seasons results (RichA can find it for you) from medals where we get c.150 every week, and Fergus Bisset got to work with Club Systems for their whole database

That should do you

It means that you pick and choose the tees you play to best suit the strengths or weaknesses of your game.

As I said. Your mate Ian was picking you up on the fact you pick your tees based on the fact you can’t reach some bunkers.
My comment was that by laying back you statistically make your approach shots harder. Obviously in your case you are not hampered by the longer approach shots.

Hope this answers your question.
That’s right I do

Ian’s not my mate ,I have not met him.
He’s just someone with a few manners unlike you who just wants confrontation!

Thank you but why not just answer it first time seeing you like others to answer your questions,?

A few manners, I'll take that thanks.

Suggest we all try a bit harder to be decent to each other. I will try harder anyway.

I still think we can all learn stuff from eachother and was particularly interested in listening to the podcast that @Dunesman brought to the thread. Interesting how Iain Carter got a touch from Andrew. Listen to the second half of "The world's third fastest reader" episode to hear it.

Amongst their chat Iain talks about putting cards in retrospectively. I'm not saying he's cheating, he even says it's the opposite of cheating in his opinion. Andrew might not agree. Nevertheless you can't do that in Ireland through the app. Seems you can in England's version.

Amongst the discussion Eddie brings up an interesting point about WHS affecting juniors. Certainly it's made a big mess of our junior section. Plenty of ludicrous handicaps have emerged and competition entrances have declined. The healthy competition that once existed and formed a significant part of many golfers' young lives has been eroded and that's sad for everyone in the game. Anyone who grew up playing the game will surely acknowledge the role that golf's structure and rules played in their young lives.
I'm sorry, Golf like many sports have had trouble in recruiting juniors to their sport in recent times, and I think WHS is way down on the list of reasons they are not taking up Golf,

Agreed. Not suggesting it has anything to do with getting kids interested but I can see it does have a detrimental effect on their development once they're at that stage where they need that carrot to keep them focused.

It's certainly a different environment.

Agree.
I think cost is a big factor.
Clubs and gear are like I phones now the kids want the top gear no Slazenger sets for them.

On the Wales one, you can't key anything for two hours after you "pre register " the round. If you're close enough to the course you can key it well after you finish. If Iain Carter was stating in Saunton Sands Hotel, he could still key it at any time. I assume Mrs C was marking!

His "intent" was what I was taught when I first started playing. Comps were comps, everything else was non qualifying. BUT if you played to the rules and holed out, if you beat your handicap, you'd put it in for consideration. Back then, the goal was a lower handicap, not free golf bags!! The trend seems to want every round to count, even if you don't play every hole to conclusion 😉

Do the English and Scottish versions work the same?

If you listen to this week’s Chipping Forecast it is cleared up, also a good debate on WHS.
Yes he never put his card in.

Not much love on there for WHS.

Getting your mate at work to sign your card because his pp wasn’t affiliated anywhere.👀👀

Quote of the pod “ if you give people power they will abuse it” just about sums it up.
The power to put GP cards in has just ended up with golfers just not trusting the handicaps of other golfers.
That’s bad imo.

Yes, no love for WHS, certainly from Andrew Cotter especially. I think Iain Carter put himself in a difficult position and just about managed to extradite himself although a few things he said were still a little questionable. See him in a different light now. Saying that the only competition that matters is with yourself wouldn't be something I agree with. There may be some on here who would say that but I think competition should be controlled a bit better than that, at least within an individual club.

Losing competition would be a disaster imo.
Trust has gone for a lot of golfers.
