My daughter decided to play off the whites today & use the mens scorecard, she said she actually found it easier to play from. Had a shot per hole, she shot 5 nett pars, 3 - 1 overs & a 1 - 2 over. Some of the scores are better than she hits from the red tees. Funny old game.

I'm keen to play of the whites at my course but no opportunity to do so. The course is still quite short from the whites though - I've played some that are longer off the reds - so probably wouldn't make a huge difference to scores.

Probably hazards aren't in play off the tee.
Ill go along with this.
That's not to say she's a short hitter but compared to the Men she probably is. So always coming up short of bunkers, being able to land between sets of hazards more easily etc could account for it....

Either that or she just had a bloody good round!!

Which course are you a member of? All couses I've been a member of allow play off either yellow or whites at any time.

Liberton.

Don't know for sure if it's actually prohibited or not. White tees on the 14th are across the wrong side of the 12th fairway. Causes enough problems when members are aware there's a comp on never mind in casual play.

Funny old game indeed!

Sunday, in a friendly knock we decided to play from the tips, ignoring the placement of the white markers. I'd forgotten how tough the course plays from the back.

We're thinking of playing a round soon where we play 1st hole white, 2nd hole yellow, 3rd hole red, and so on.

ladies are not allowed to play off the whites at my course this goes for juniors as well, the whites are for mens comp use only, what advantage would women get by playing a longer course than normal as their h/c is based on the sss for the red markers.

We might enjoy it?

Since a proportion of my subs go towards maintaining these sacred tees I might like the chance to use them once in a while?

I don't get a chance to use the red tees, unless I top a drive onto the red tee!.

On the contrary, nothing to stop you using them other than fear of ridicule. Maybe some guys would enjoy playing off the reds.

But even if there was you still have twice as many tees as the ladies....

We can play off our whites at any time. Some of the specific small area white tee boxes are moved forward to protect them but mainly they stay the same.

I've been to a few courses as a visitor that state you have to play off the yellows unless its an official match.

Never seen any ladies at our course course go off anything other than the Red's.

and i dont get the opp to play off whites unless the old man sticks one oob in a mixed! the whites are sometimes better for me cos i can usually stick my drive into a fairway bunker from the reds, would be nice to stand on a tee and not have a bunker winking at me! ;)

use less club!!

I'm actually organizing a comp next month off the Ladies tees. Anyone that bogeys a hole has to put £1 into the kitty. Anyone that fails to beat their handicap puts in £10. The winner takes the lot.

Of course it has to be arranged when no one can see, as the club would be fuming if they knew

That sounds like fun. Some of the girls at our club have discussed organising an informal (non-counting) comp off the whites. Hope it happens, it'd make a nice change, and the course is still short off the whites so not a great problem.

Exactly.....it's just a bit of fun. It's mainly single figure players, so it'll be interesting to see what scores are posted. Whoever has an off day will get ripped though!
