evening all

tomorrow morning at 7am I head off on a mega road trip that sees me away for 8 days playing golf every day.

This afternoon I took delivery of brand new Range Rover Sport loan car for the trek and I'm just packing all my gear up now

Trip details as follows...
Tomorrow - drive up to Hoylake to play in a ex Liverpool Uni golf teams golf day
Saturday back at Hoylake to play in the April stableford comp
Sunday morning head up to Scotland for Open Championship/Visit Scotland press days.
Sunday at Dundonald
Monday at Turnberry
Tuesday at Prestwick
Tuesday night head back down to Merseyside
Wednesday I'm playing with TonyN, VIG and RGuk at Hoylake in a mini forum meet
Thursday at Delamere Forest in Cheshire for a golf club secretaries competiton
Thursday night drive back home
Friday - GM Order of Merit showdown at Kingswood in Surrey

I'm obviously v excited and well aware of how massively lucky I am to be doing this (and calling it work) but have I bitten off more than I can chew? Will my golf get better or worse over the week?
Can I show any degree self restraint with evening drinks and cooked breakfasts?

I'll update you on the trip via the GM site and also on our twitter page http://twitter.com/GolfMonthly as updates v simple on there

I was up at the In-laws over Easter and went to the beach at Hoylake. It's always windy there.

If the wind is blowing anything like it was then take some rope and pegs to strap yourself down! I should think 300 yard downwind drives with a 9 iron will not be uncommon!!!

In answer to the questions, yes your golf will probably improve until about Tuesday and as it is only a loan vehicle and knowing what a fine upstanding gent you are, I think you will be pragmatic with your refuelling strategies.

sadly the dundonld and prestwick days are Association of Golf Writers events otherwise I would have tried to get some of the west coast forumers along

I take it as a compliment you thin I can keep going until Wednesday

off to bed to read the Range Rover manual - took me 20 minutes to work out how to open the boot (not just the glass partion bit earlier so may be a long night!

Oh to be young and fit again!
I played 36 at St George's Hill yesterday and walking down the last I looked like a cross between Douglas Bader and C3P0....

I ache like hell this morning.

So that's why your up at the wrong side of 7. Nevermind I didn't read this till just now.

I will be keeping a close eye on your progress, and just hope by wednesday, your down to half swings :D

No doubt there will be a few range rovers at hoylake, I will look for the one with bald tyres! :D

Just pray you don't get struck down with GA in an early round or it could end up a hospital case!! ;)

Seriously, enjoy, you're short game should be razor sharp after that itinerary.
