number of Scottish golf courses

Recently I told a regular Spanish partner that Scotland had more than 500 golf courses for a population of about 5 milion. He suggested that we Scots were including Pitch and Putts. Who is right?

You're right. I have a map which lists over 500 in Scotland. There are over 2700 in the UK.

Your friend probably didn't believe you because apparently there are only around 225 in Spain
