You must be the last person alive believing in Fred Hoyle's proposal of continuous creation. Even he admitted it was wrong decades ago.
He said in 'our galaxy' not in the universe.
Number of stars in the observable universe is probably around the 1000 trillion mark. We know the universe is almost certainly way way bigger than that, but the jury's still out on whether it might be infinite.
