not unless you have been playing for 30 years and are cat 1,same as don't buy forged blades or a massive bag and electric trolley for the same reason,don't ponce about for 10 mins with a distance gadget when you only hit a 7i 130 yds on a good day,learn the rules and etiquette before playing in comps,if you cant hit a driver THEN learn,don't change your putter because you cant hole out, learn to put,the monthly medal isn't the place to practice,i think i have covered some questions from newbys,

It's up to you to choose which balls you use , i've been using a couple of old ones for a while now , i've nearly lost them a few times but they still work.
