Not looking... But looking

Not really in the market for new irons at the moment but I've been eyeing up a set of Cleveland CG7 Tour irons on the interwebbythingamijig and wondered if anyone has any experience of them.
Apparently they're used by the Cleveland Touring Professionals so are going to be similar to my X-20 Tours but maybe a little less chunky.

Any thoughts?

The X-20's are going okish but are starting to get a little tired.
I've recently got Cleveland woods and hybrids (launchers) and love 'em to bits.

check out the new Cg7 black pearl irons with zip grooves, they look stonking.

Pete,

You say that they don't make decent irons and then say they are gorgeous. Which is it? I haven't hit any cleveland irons since the CG gold were released last year (or the year before?) and they were solid but unremarkable. I've never really considered Cleveland for their irons despite using a 3 and 5 wood of theirs but the new model does look a step up. Might have to have a look when they come out to see if the picture does the real thing justice.

I always find Cleveland irons sit very flat in my opinion!

Is that just me?

I thought that when I tried the CG golds - at least a couple of degrees. Can't be sure if it was just me (probably) but they did seem to sit a little oddly. Good club though and a nice feel. Like I said - functional but unremarkably. Will do a job without setting the wrold alight although the new model looks a much sexier proposition

I use the CG red tour spec irons and I must say that I'm very impressed with them.
I previously used Mizuno TP9s (I used these for about 19 years and were superb clubs but no good for someone who played as infrequently as me). I bought the CG reds in February as they were on offer in my local driving range and I wanted a set of cavities after the TP9 blade. They're not custom fitted and I've no idea if they sit flat or anything like that. I simply picked them up and they felt very nice. I tried them on the range and they were better than the CG golds.
I've used them a fair bit this year and the ball FLIES off the face. So much so that I'm considering changing the PW as I just can't control the damn thing. From 100 yards+ it's fine but little pitch shots and I'm clearing the green and pretty much anything else behind it!!!
I think I may need a stiffer shaft as I have to swing quite easy with them otherwise I power fade but that's my only criticism.
My original plan was to get them, get used to them, start playing more (I've just joined a club) and then, once I'm more consistent, get a better set of irons. Now, I may well keep them. ;)
