Evening,

Im looking for a new club to join this year and was wondering if anyone on here has played or been a member of either of the clubs as they're strong possibilities.

I know Northumberland is more of a 'traditional' club and it's an open qualifying course. Certainly not the cheapest in the area but I believe the drainage is good and I've heard they've got a new head greenkeeper from Gleneagles (I think). Really close to me also.

I don't know much about Bedlingtonshire other than its been recommended by a few people. Its a bit further away (15 min drive) and quite a bit cheaper. I haven't actually played it, I was going to this weekend but I think the snow has seen to that.

So any experiences?

Cheers

I really enjoy both courses and have played them a lot but can't comment on then as members clubs bar telling you that The Park is fairly snooty.

Bedlingtonshire on the other hand will have more of a members club feel to it.

I would also say that they both will be pretty much on a par in terms of playability when weather is poor, not superb but both better than many around the area.

The Park is getting a better name for conditioning than it enjoyed 2 years ago and BGC is always in braw nick whenever I have played it which is always May to September time.

U will NEVER get in the dining room at THE Northumberland in ya trainers matey........;).......thats for Sure
Ideal on your doorstep, but dont see u 100% happy there
But Id be happy to go along with u for that 'Trial' game, if u ever sort one :D

Have a game at mine when the weathers better and back to full course, can easy slot u in with our lot for a game.........

And WE even allow people to watch Football on TV in the Bar

I've been a member at bedlington for two years and love it. We've spent loads on drainage this year and it's working wonders. Bit wet in places but in great condition. Members are generally very friendly and the pro and assistant very good. Good food and beer as well. Any questions just ask. Also doing 15 months for 12 starting January
