I'm just wondering if anyone has found certain drivers give off different noises. I have moved to a Nike Dymo Str8-fit driver and it sounds very tinnie (tiniem tiney however you spell it).

it goes nice and straight and gets good distance but to me it sounds strange. I had one comment from someone who thought it must have been a cheap replica but it's from AG, has a serial and all of the tools so it's genuine.

Anybody else found this?

I know what you mean, there was a fella with an R11 in the bay next to me at the range yesterday and under the tin roof it sounded terrible.

My mate's Callaway sounds like a lump of concrete on a table leg.

I don't really like the noise my JPX800 makes, I much preferred my old Ping Rapture V2 driver in terms of noise.

Different drivers make different sounds and some just sound awful despite being perfectly legit. Older Cobra drivers used to sound like you were slapping a ball with a frying pan and if I remember some Nike drivers sounded like you were hitting the ball with a tin can on a stick. As it happens I played with someone yesterday who was using a Benross Inovator driver from a few years ago and it was very loud and tinny, it was almost off putting and I would fear damaging my hearing if I hit it in a driving range.

Cobra and Nike use to be the worse. I now think its the R11/R9's. Horrible sound off the club face.
I like a subtle noise and its probably why I love titleist woods so much. Best noise has to be the i-series from ping. Lovely crisp thwack noise.

Used to have a Cleveland Hi-Bore Monster XLS, ugly thing with a weird shaped head. If you hit it out the middle it was loud, and I mean everyone in the vicinity turning to look at you loud. It was useful though as you knew when you had caught it sweet. Current Mizzy driver isn't loud and you can't really tell where it's come out of by the sound.

I used to have a Nike Sumo, and they are rather loud. Tried one of the new TaylorMade drivers during a lesson last week, didn't like it and thought that it sounded a bit tinney too. Will stick with my Ping Rhapsody, as I usually hit it quite nicely, and I do prefer the crisp sound as the ball comes off the face.

Some scientific research was actually done a few years back iirc....
Apparently the G10 came out on top but for me, Nike and Cobra were the loudest...

I've always found Ping to have a PINGY/Tinny sound. The newer TM white ones also sounded really loud in a bay but maybe ok in the Open.
My current TM superfast burner (black) has the sound I really like

i started going very early to the range because of the dirty loks i was getting using my hi bore, some crack of it

My FT3 makes a peculiar 'clonk' sound - though not as bad as its predecessor - the C4!

Early Cobra and Nike Sasquatch was the first loud ones for me. The Nike Lucky 13 was the first that hurt my ears. And I acquired my Cobr LV4 because a mate's club banned Nikes, Cobras and FT!s from the Driving range - as the noise was disturbing the neighbours.

G15 and current Driver much more reasonable. Will see what the Adams sounds like once it gets re-shafted.

My old Sumo 5000 will leave your ears ringing after a session on the driving range, I'd change it but it's the best damend driver I've ever played.
