Would not bother. Email is my preferred method of communication, club offers an email address, if you ignore my email you clearly are not interested in my business. I would be sacked if I ignored an email then suggested that a potential client call me if I am not responding to them. Clubs are a business and if they do not act like one and be professional then they deserve all they get

Not tried H&P. Spoke to Lee Park - they were great. Issue there is I'm the other end of the city.

You're probably only no more than 10 mins more away past West Derby. 20 minutes round trip isn't too bad is it.

Exactly. If there is no-one there to answer an email the there will be probably no-one there if you just turn up.

If any business offers an e-mail address as a way on customers contacting them then they should be able to respond in a timely manner. Additionally an e-mail address is portable and you don't have to be tied to the one location to respond

Thats an extremely dis-proportionate disciplinary level that your employer is operating at, if that is what they would do to you in that said scenario.

I would suggest if you are that fearful of that level of disciplinary action due to not responding to an email, that you speak to a union official (if appropriate), or failing that, speak to your HR rep to clarify your employers position on 'not responding to an email'.

I think you'll be surprised at the level of legal protection you have if your employer sacked you for said indiscretion - in any case I hope this doesn't happen to you, and if it does, there's plenty of peeps on this forum with far more knowledge in employment law than me.

I'm pretty sure they'll give you loads of advice if you get sacked for not responding to an email -; and remember Norman Stanley Fletcher's and my dad's advice ( when i entered the workplace for the first time) - "Don't let the b*stards grind you down"

Right, so it's time for a rant!!!

I am tossing up between two clubs at the moment. Both are about the same distance from me here in North Liverpool, both around the same price (from What I've heard) However, trying to get precise information out of them as far as payment details etc is a nightmare!!

Are all clubs like this? It's like email is a brand new thing and phoning people when you said you would is also a concept well and truly lost on these people. It's put me right off if I am totally honest. If they treat new customers like this how are existing members treated?

I long for a club to be ran correctly, new members are welcomed with open arms and treated with a bit of respect! Surely that's not too much to ask?

The 9 Hole Muni I am at currently is miles better than this (from a management perspective)

Short answer; no. Look on my club's website and all the annual subscriptions and joining fees, with the terms of payment for the joining fees, is laid out on the public action of the website, along with the phone number for further enquiries and an application form.

Stegsie i know just what your saying but from different point of view...

Our club was taken over late last year and at a meeting with the new owner before xmas one of the points raised was green fees and they wanted to increase green fees from £550 to £900 but after a few choice words from members they decided that existing members fees will be £750 and new members £900.

For me and many others its a rediculous increase in one go especially if work is going to be done to the course (allegedly)then youve alot of disruption going on around the course andddddddd they cant even do the basic stuff right..


this is the 15th and been like this for a week and the rest of the flags are a disgrace and got the cheek to put green fees up so much when cant even get the smaller things done.
Well myself and 4 mates aint joining again this year and also know quite a few others who arent and i seriously cant see any new members joining at that price either.

Been taken over by an American and theyve got lots of ideas and plans but most of them are for the rest of the land surrounding the course....

The plans that weve been told is to build a 100 room hotel,several boutique shops ,health spa and bring clarkes shop upto where the clubhouse is and build a new 2 tier driving range where the marquee is and not very much mentioned about the course except the new machinery they have bought or are getting:angry:..

Yeh ive played both and nice courses..at the moment im living in Ashton so im going to see if theres any offers for maybe 12 month green fee only or certain amount of games for a fee or something along those lines as im not going to be stopping in the area for more than 12 months and the joing fee for Ashton is £1000 and Haydock £500 but can be spread yearly but wont be there that long.
