Are we? When was the last time you were in church? The Church in the UK is in crisis with many congregations falling into decline. I think it is extremely hypocritical for so called Christians to spout that "we" are a Christian nation yet never cross the threshold of a church unless it is for a christening, wedding or funeral.

Society can still have Christian 'values' without the need of visiting church...

I imagine so but I think now we're entering the post-Christian era it's not a bad idea to disentangle our society from Christianity.

And, by all accounts, we'll be an Islam led society by 2070 or thereabouts...

Yep. Before it's too late. Bad enough when our religion was happy clappy niceness, but in 50 years time....

The French have it right on this. If we don't get it sorted out soon, down the plughole we go...

What about the millions around the world that use religion and their faith as a place of calm and hope in their life and gives them something to believe.

Not all religion is bad and there is certainly a place for it in modern society

Around the world their are millions and millions of people living a calm and peaceful live based on their own religion.

Not all religion is bad and there is certainly a place for it in modern society

Around the world their are millions and millions of people living a calm and peaceful live based on their own religion.

I'm sure they're all much happier than the millions who have been abused, persecuted, tortured and murdered because of religion.

Yes we certainly entering a post-Christian era.

Several churches in my city have turned into mosques and I am sure plenty more will too.

People will always find a justification to abuse and kill people - there will always been money and power which are right up there with religion as a reason for war etc

It's not religion that's murdering people or abusing or persecuting them - it's people's interpretation and perception of the spoken word in religious texts

Religion is something that will never disappear- because people will always look to something to find an answer or put some faith into.

Gets me how so many people say they are not religious but get married in churches and have their children baptised in the church while making vows to God to raise them in the Christian faith.
