Agree with a previous comment - young was half way down before any kind of contact with the defender, he went looking for the free kick and conned the ref, the guy's a cheat and it needs to be stopped.

Being 2 yards outside the box is also unforgivable. If in any doubt the ref cant give the decision, the lino said he couldn't help the ref and he buckled under the weight of it being at OT.

Disgraceful behaviour that Man Utd have been getting for years and years.

Big heated debate about it on 606 tonight. General consensus seemed to be retrospective red cards, and the 3 game ban that goes with it, would sort the problem pretty much overnight. Have the FA got the balls to do it? Ha ha ha

Given the pretty reasonable rules they have in place about such things, it's not a matter of not having the will to do ny more, but not being allowed to do so.

I'd like to see the rules changed from the current 'If the Ref has dealt with it, that's the end of it' approach to one where there is more dialog between Refs and the FA. I know there is a section in the Ref's report where comments about incidents can be made, but I think there should be more scope for FA to take disciplinary action after a review. It should not be seen s critical of the Ref - more a case of ensuring consistency across all games and applying FA policy.

The Appeal process for Red Card offers players wrongly penalised some redress. The same should happen for incidents where insufficient penalty was given. Getting the balance right is the difficult bit.

And, as a relative neutral, I think the FA are happy to have some of the incidents that actually create passionate fan responses!

I'm all for retrospective Red cards for divers!

Btw. It's 'up to' 3 games not automatically - depends on the offence.
