Just seen on Twitter that Nick D has announced that this weekends Dunhill Links will be his last tournament as a player and will then move full time behind the microphone.

Hope he does well and makes the cut. However I've been really impressed with him in a pundit / commentator role with Sky. Anything that can push Roe further from our screens has to be a plus point.

Did a Paul Way, seemed like a real contender early in his career but couldn't kick on a level. Shame but it happens I suppose. Good luck to him, always came over as a decent lad.

He reminds me of someone like Dan Walker on Football Focus - smiles for the camera, says nothing ever that will upset the apple cart but seems a bit clueless really. His relationship on screen with his wife is cringe worthy and they should never be allowed to present together for that reason.

Agree with most on here that its nice to have a more recent tour pro commentating.

In fact I'm of the opinion that Sky Sports needs to overhaul their commentary team and bring in many more fresh voices to replace Boxy, Ewen Murray, Howard Clark etc but maybe that's a topic for another day.

I like Nick.
To be fair he's been a part time golfer for a good few years now but I'm glad he's going full time on the mic.
It can't be fun missing cut after cut after cut...

Can't be bad, can't cut it on the course so settles for cushty number with Sky.

I do actually like him tho, good luck to him.

Never been greatly impressed by him as a pundit, to be honest, but I did think during the Ryder cup that he was improving so could be a good move.

I've been a bit disappointed that coltart seems more on the sidelines now, I do think he's good.

They should build a new team for golf around him , Beem , Coltart and Howell ( when available ) - replace people like Holmes and Pugh with young coaches like Harmon - get rid of the Critchley , Murray and Roe plus of course limit Monty on there. Would like to see JP Morgan on the course during ET events - was really good on the Euro Pro

The Ewen Murray hate is a common theme on here and elsewhere but I just don't get it, I think he's a good commentator. What is it that people don't like?

Don't hate him as such just not a fan of his commentary - sounds so dreary and sends you to sleep , him and Monty together are the dream team in terms of sleep inducing.

He's growing on me but I'm not keen on blokes that stand licking their face in the mirror! On saying that it's a no brainer for him and similar to Coltart, he'll earn more money being a pundit than a player 👍🏼

Honesty is a good thing though and it's clear that he's now accepting that he's cr@p, good on him but he needs to lighten up a bit with the advice ... bearing in mind that he failed he doesn't need to talk like he's a past superstar! If he's tuning in then good luck 👍🏼

I'm sure he's still better than most.
I'd happily take advice from him.

I think Nick could be a very good pundit, he seems like a decent sort, played the challenge tour at galgorm a few years back and was a really nice guy, talking and signing stuff for folks and spending a bit time, hope it works for him.
