Mind a respectable 78 tommo so your incident cant have upset your rhythm too much. Dissapointing not to have seen you serving one down the first....

. But also bad etiquette on your part expecting to be able to play through.

Sorry Tim I dont get this at all. The etiquette of of golf is the same at all clubs - if you have lost a hole on the group in front you should allow a faster group behind to play through so... by definition, he should expect to play through and he shouldn't have to ask and, whats more, they should not refuse, if asked!

Chris

And the etiquette on the motorway is that you don't hog the outside lane, especially if faster vehicles are approaching from behind. So what do you do if you come across such a driver? Sit on his tail flashing your lights and tooting your horn? Or do you wait patiently until he pulls in?

Spot on....but unfortunately very rarely adhered to.

The chance to have a moan probably made your birthday.. :D

What???? Etiquette on the roads?? No such thing exists - only hard and fast rules.

The car in front of you is doing 65 mph and is in the outside lane and you roar up behind him in your Audi/BMW doing 85+mph - Please explain the etiquette here then?

So you're saying that tailgating is perfect etiquette?

Absolutely not - as I say, etiquette doesn't exist - only rules.

If the car in front is doing 65 mph then you slow down from 70 mph and over take when safe to do so. You do not flash your lights or sound your horn.

If you're doing 85mph then you're breaking the law and should expect penalty points from the local traffic police and a fine.

With regards the OP, if the group in front has lost ground on the group in front (>1 hole) then the group behind are perfectly entitled to ask to play through. End of.

WTF has the motorway got to do with golf. Timgolf....all round good guy who smacks the ball a mile, RnA rules official, poke nose clairvoyant, psychic, mind reader and now highway patrol man. Got to say he knows it all.

Okay, here's another quiz.

It's your birthday and you're having a great round of golf. You have four holes left to play but the group in front won't let you play through. Do you:

a. Keep cool and not let it ruin your day.

b. Stamp your feet and scream, confront the group calling them "total plonkers" and "low lifes".

c. Wait until you get home and then call them "total plonkers" and "low lifes" from the safety of your own keyboard?

Some of the above exhibit good etiquette. Others don't.

You are correct with A and C well done timboy two out of three is not bad. A wee gold star for the main witness.

What I want to know is this, how do you know I'm behind this keyboard. You are a clever clever little boy.

Tommo geezer, it's not worth it. Tim has already stated that he's not played much golf so he's never experienced the 'slow group' in front that have lost untold holes.

Tim's on the wind up - again!!

I do wish that the wind up merchants would vacate this forum and allow us golf addicts to feed our habits in peace and tranquility..

Some wind ups can be interesting and sometimes it isn't really a wind up,just something that the person that is posting genuinely believes in but on this occasion timmy is just plain talking out of his arse.
