In England and Wales this thread has been renamed "the next course I will cycle on, walk my dog on, or have a ramble on." All of which are ok as long as you don't carry a golf club!
The West is the iconic course that everyone wants to play. As a first time experience why would you pick one of the other courses?
Do it and play the West - the condition is outstanding, some of the holes are superb , 18th is getting better but it’s a great course - it maybe not be up there with the likes of Sunningdale etc but it’s still excellent
You do realise that this thread is about the experience of playing a top course?
It’s not in the Top 100 for the same reason why the likes of Bearwood , Queenwood, JCB , Centurion are not in - because it’s a private no visitors club
It used to be in the top 100 but was dropped because they stopped taking visitors. Playing the course that hosts the European tour flagship event every year is still a great experience for the man in the street.
It’s as if GM have a reason for not including courses like the West Course, or Loch Lomand
I hear it’s because the greens aren’t as good as a certain other course
Which one; Haydock, Newmarket, Aintree?
