New uglies

I've just twigged.
I know what he's got and you're right, they are awful.
I wont post a pic cause the mods would have to remove it as they are so offensive.
I mean, who in their right mind would buy Cobra S3s  :mad:

If not Nike, Mizuno then ???
Dont tell me he's bought some ugly MP69s?

What is this about, thats not even funny... I have always liked you bob.... :D

It does beg the questions bob, if your clubs were lost or something, I was going to say stolen but no one is going to do that... What would you get?

Now this is where all you peasants get it all wrong.
You buy all the right gear, clubs, shoes, clothing, bag, trolley, GI irons, custom fit you name it and what happens when you have a 'Smiffy'
Who/what do you blame?
If the clubs are pured, c/f'd balanced, lengthened/shorten and built by master craftsmen, the Go Kart is carrying your special babies without a murmer of complaint, the course is pristine and the greens are like snooker tables, Who are you going to blame.
Therefor, if I had to buy some new clubs, These probably...

I hoped this would be the answer. Tell you what though, I did hit a bad shot with my old Wilsons on the range and did the usual look at the club in an attempt to blame it and I had snapped the shaft, not something you want to happen every day but a small bit of justification. I was sure I had flushed that shot!!!!:D

Don't you just hate being "outed"...........

OK..so here are the facts.........

Following the Trilby Tour on Wednesday where I played like a nob, (poor club selection advice from caddy obviously playing a huge part), and then following it up with a disastrous medal in the afternoon, I decided enough was enough........................

I went to the Direct Golf store in Edgware the next day with the intention of hitting the aforementioned Fuglies. I had already hit the demo 6 iron at my club a couple of weeks before and they were stupidly long and easy to hit,, but I didn't think any more of it due to the fugliness.......

While I was there as part of the fitting I hit a few off the strike plate with some heel/toe tape with my TM CB's..................couldnt believe how much out of the heel it was indicating.................if the diagram below is the tape,, it looked like this:

Heel > __**___|________ < Toe

I hit the fuglies....they also came out of the heel but not by as much.............he adjusted the demo fugly by 2 degrees flatter.........immediate results and not pulling to the left any more....dead easy to hit......tried the 4 iron as well.....long and easy.........

He adjusted the rest of the set by 2 degrees.....(I went for regular shaft due to my swing speed.......(82-86mp).....I hit them again to make sure they were ok and they were ..

Then he asked me if I would like him to adjust my TM CB's.......we went for 3 degrees to start with on the 6 iron, but it was still slightly heely......another degree brought it right into the middle.....".perfick!!!........he then did the rest while I nipped out ot the car to get my Callaway x forged to check them out....sure enough..."...2 degrees out...he adjusted them as well...."."

I was now hitting all the irons well, especially the TM CB's, 4 degrees upright had effectively given me a sweet spot the size of Greece's bank balance, and now the ball was coming out of the centre, I regained much of my lost distance..........

Murph caught me red handed going back there yesterday with my MP62's which he had just altered by 3 degrees:whistle:

Can't believe how I hadn't noticed how much upright they were sitting at address.....the difference now is staggering.....much better flight with a lot more distance.........even Murph will have to agree that I was hitting the TM CB's a million times better than last week........

I played with a combo set on Saturday in a club 4BB at Piemans Bushey Hall in the Chiltern Breakfast League..........I used the fugly 4,5,6&7 irons and my TM CB 7,8,9,PW, ( yes 2 x 7 irons, otherwise the gap between the fugly 7 and my CB 8 would have been too big)......... It worked a treat and I went round in around 5 over and we won easily......also hit every par 3 which I haven't done for ages.........

Don't know how long I'll keep using the fuglies....probably until the handicap starts dropping again and confidence is restored, but they are so easy to hit, so it might be a while..........or it might be until next week......who knows??

Anyway if you still haven't guessed which fuglies they are....here you go.......

And here's a very well respected pro that doesn't think they are too bad......

It sounds like you've done a pretty good job justifying these to yourself....which is what counts.
What the rest of us think means nothing really

Interesting that you cant even say the word though Rick....

Shocking that some of your irons were as much as 4* out though!! Can you actually feel the difference now, or just see it in the ball flight?

That's some change Rick. And I may go against the grain here but I actually think the RBZ irons are quite nice. I hit the 7 & 8 iron a few days ago and has got a really nice and solid feel to them, I would definitely consider them if I was purchasing now.

NURSE! We've found another one!

I went to the range to have the next installment of my golf torture (lesson?), and it's normally pretty quiet there. The idiots don't normally know there is an upstairs section.

I turn up last night, and have just put the token in the machine when I get accosted by this total knob who is skiving off work, and doesn't even know what day of the week it is, waving new and extremely ugly bats at me. It was quite scary. I thought I could escape by jumping off the balcony, but he was between me and any available exit. I was pinned against the ball dispenser, with only a green plastic bucket to defend myself with.
