Hi guys, im new to the site and saying hi, am also new to golf. Following an accident in afghanistan i had to give up football and rugby so took up golf instead. I have been playing for 5 months now quite intensley. I recently finished my 3rd card and received a handicap of 7....im thinking this may be hardd to live up to. I have also just bought the ping g15's as im considering taking this seriously, i would love any advice.

Thanks Bish (Shropshire)

ARe you half robot? Seriously 7 handicap & new to golf?

How long have you been playing exactly?

WHere do you play, whats the sss for the course etc?

Welcome to the forum, Scratch by next year then? :D

Hi, been playing since June, 1st time i hit a ball, picked it up quite easy, had 4 lessons, and play around 4 times a week if im off work.
SSS is 72 i play at Muxton (The Shropshire) and a few others round the area.
I am really getting obsessed with the game

Welcomer bish, if what you say is what you did and you are 7 h/c, good on ya mate, I would suggest with that obvious tallent you should get consistant help as you never know, it could lead you to great things in the game. Very few pick the game up so quickly and to such a good standard, well done.

Well I would keep those lessons up for sure, you may well find yourself playing for the county before long :D

O and your handicap is meant to be hard to live up to ;)

Bloody hell, I wish I could play off 7 after a few months, I am struggling off 21 after 2 years lol.

Welcome to the forum mate and yes golf is more addictive than crack.

Welcome along. Congrats on such a great start to your golfing career. Just get a winter of golf under your belt (maybe some lessons if you feel the need) and blitz it down to scratch next season

Thanks for your replies guys, like i said i have only just received my HC and my 1st comp is this saturday so i will see how things go from there... I am still a little nervous about changing from my cobra's (VERY OLD SET) to my new G15's, although after being custom fit they felt so right and consistant, i think its just a mental thing but we will see.

Welcome to the mad house..........

awesome start I agree get those lessons booked and keep playing as much as you can. Hopefully you won't get to frustrated as the rest of us have got over the years!

Congrats on the excellent start to the game. Get the short game on song and I imagine you will drop even more ! Good luck Saturday, let us know how you get on.

Congrats on the 7 h/cap Bish.

Out of interest, what were the scores of your 3 cards?

What were the scores on the 3 cards you put in? I assume you must have had 3 good rounds to start off at a 7 handicap as I started at 24 a few months ago & it's gone in the wrong direction since.....

welcome, you've come to right place to support your addiction, just don't expect to find a cure.

first handicap 7, after 5 months - you can go right off some people :D

carry your bag in the Open, mister?

Hi guys, 1st day I have used my G15's and i must say THEY ARE AMAZING! The driver is adding 20yds and minimising my draw, I dunno whether I just had a good round orthey have improved my game alot but this morning I played Meole Brace, a small 9 hole 2 min away from me. 1st nine I hit a 33 and 2nd 9 I hit 34, (Par = 68 SSS=67) I was amazed and had 2 members with me who are off to order their g15's lol. My short game was on form and my confidence has now rocketed for saturday. Im a green in pings (2degree upright) which I assume is responsible for my improvement as I now find shaping the ball alot easier. I also changed to Srixon soft feel ball, everything just felt right, i apologise if I seem to be blabbering on, i just need to share my happy thoughts with people who can appriciate it.

Considering leaving the marines and just playing golf lol.

Bish

p.s im now looking for a decent putter and tossing up between ping and odyssey. Anyone had any experiences with eaither?

Had a ping answer about 12 years ago and i use an Odyssey 2-ball now and i love it. Great feel off the face

ps when are you gonna be back on active duty or are you just playing golf as a tracksuit soldier ? ;)

Buying a putter is such a personal thing. Try loads, and buy what you feel comfortable with. Either Ping or Oddessey make decent quality putters. You won't go wrong with either. Personnally I like Scotty, but they are very expensive, and if you have just taken up golf, I wouldn't go down that route unless you have money to burn.

The big decision is blade or mallet style. Depends what suits your eye, and what suits your stroke really.
