I am currently looking for a new set of irons, a set that I can keep hold of and will benefit me now and when my handicap comes down. I originally had a fitting at my track on a free fitting day for mizuno and had ago with JPX800 Pro, fitting came out with a Project X 5.5 shaft which I really liked. Hit the ball well and though 'I like these'..

Recently went it DG and tried the JPX800 Pro against MP59's..tried both PRJX5.5 and Dynalite gold, still like the project x but wasn't hitting the jpx as well as the mp59.. I now want to mp59 but it's £700..

So today, my track did a titleist fitting.. Tried the AP1 against AP2 and AP1 came out better with a Project X 5.5 shaft, tried the KBS tour and Dynalite Gold XP but didn't get on with them.. With the project x all my shots were consistent in distance, ball flight and landing area..these are £599 bt cheaper.

I've put aside so far £700 and I'm waiting to find out about my works bonus which will pay my membership, if not bonus, my saved up money will go towards membership..

Any other clubs I should try? Didn't get on with taylormade.. Calloway RAZR's could be worth a go..

Hi Phil, they are some nice choices ther and its good to see you trying different combinations. I would add in the MP53's which I use and sit between the JPX Pro and MP59's they are nice and worth a hit. Apart from that I guess the Ping i20's and I jear good things about the latest Nike clubs so I gues the VRs Forged would fit too.

I found that there wasnt a huge difference between the different heads, once the shaft was chosen it was pretty much a personal choice. Sounds like you are keen on the 59's which I think are awesoome.

Good luck.

I'd have a go on the Callaway Razr-X Forged, my pro has them and since I am still waiting for my new JPX sticks I was using his, they were fitted with 6.0 Rifle shafts and they were fantastic, although on off-centre hits, I lost all control and distance but you'd be as well to give them a go

Also as well why not try the regular JPX irons that's what I ended up with after trying lots of different Mizzy Irons,I ended up with them in the Dynalite stiff shaft

Try the PING S56 if you like the Mizzy MP59's, you'll find the Pings look similar from the players perspective but have some additional forgiveness over the more bladed 59's

I'm biased towards my Nike Pro Combo's, but based on (if I remember right) Imurg, fundy and Snelly loving Razr's I'd give those a go as well.

The main manufacturers dont make bad clubs, they just make different clubs.
And everyone will tell you which clubs are best for them.
But you have to decide which is best for you.
Try and find somewhere where there is a choice of the main makes so Titleist, Nike, Mizuno, Cobra, Callaway, Ping, Wilson etc and compare like for like if you can.
But I wouldn't buy anything until you have at least tried a few balls with the Ping i 20
Nice :)
