I know it's another I've bought a new club thread, but after seeing the Mizuno JPX850 Driver last year and waiting until today to have a fitting, I was hoping that it wouldn't disappoint, and it didn't.

Looking down at the deep blue colour is gorgeous, the slightly smaller 440cc head, which doesn't look that small sits behind the ball nicely and with a Motore Speeder 67g stiff shaft and the head set to 10.5 upright weight in heel and front middle I could get the ball out to 250yds total distance, but more over I was getting them to go straight. I know its the swing and not the club that determines the ball flight, but most were straight, some with a little fade in the direction I wanted them to go.

On the numbers as someone is bound to ask, my current driver (Titleist 913 D2 9.5 set to C3 which is draw bias and .75 up so 10.25 loft with Adila RIP 60g 2.9 Stiff shaft) as getting out to around 230yds.

I was handed me the 850 set to10.5 upright with the weights in the heel and front middle positions with the off the shelf Orochi stiff shaft. After looking at my Titleist swings he thought I needed help in tuning the club head over and a bit more forgiveness in the shaft tip. Off I went smacked a few balls and it just didn’t feel right, distance was up, as was ball speed, but so was the launch angle (14.4) and spin (3,800), I told the fitter it felt to whippy and loose at the club head. He looked a little puzzled at my comments, more as if the numbers, his thoughts and my comments just didn’t add up.

Anyway he put in the Motore Speeder stiff 67g and the difference was immediate, spin was down to just over 2,000, launch was down to around 12.5-13, oddly ball speed was down, but smash was up and so was distance, in fact it was up a good 20yds, overall distance was a little over 250yds, I’ve not hit that far for a good while.

So I'm one very happy golfer with a new shiny soon to be in e bag

Enjoy! I've got new club envy at the moment but it's going to take me a little while before I'm swinging consistently and have the money to spend.

Hope it still goes well went it arrives and helps you on your way to a new PB

How much is it for the speeder shaft? is that an upgrade?

I am going to a Mizuno demo day to hopefully find a new shaft as the stock stiff orichi doesn't suit. Its been quite hard to find people with a full range of shafts.

I got fitted at Close House and was told the Motore Speeder was a £42 up charge, I think that is standard across the board, Close House didn't put any mark up on it either.

Might be interested in your outgoing 913 if you decide to move it on, what shaft is in it?

It's fitted with a Adila RIP 60g 2.9 Stiff shaft. IF the shaft suits, I'll be happy to sell it to you, saves me sticking it on flea bay.

Can't beat me shinies, enjoy it.

Just make sure you don't start too many threads about it or we will be sending PM's about you :D

I was quoted £300 for a speeder shaft from true fit golf. Bi matrix £160.

It will be interesting to see what prices are offered at the demo day.

I think Mizuno offer 3 types of Motore shaft, not sure what the differences are in terms of performance or price, but the one that worked for me was the Fujikura Motore Speeder 6.3TS 67g stiff

I won't be spending £300 that's for sure. I will go to £160 of the numbers and feel is right.

Seems crazy as it will be the most I have spend on one club and it won't even be a club.

I need something low launch and low spin. I was over 18 degrees launch even with the head at 8.5 .

The Motore Speeder I've got coming gives a mid to high balls flight, so probably not much use for you, but the other ones the 7.2 gives a low ball light but at 72g in stiff is quite heavy, the 6.2 is lighter in stiff at 63g, but that gives a mid ball flight.

Fancy trying a heavier shaft. Its thought a heavier shaft will smooth out my transition.

Not a fan of the stock 60gramm orichi shaft.

seen your post over on the Mizzie forum  so you paid about £350 if my sums work out. Is it coming from Mizuno direct to you or do you have to go back to Close House ?

Sounds awesome and a huge gain. I can't think that the shaft its self dropped you 1800 rpm but it's feel must have helped you make a less spinny strike.

When do you get it?

It's ordered through Close House, but I did hear that they had to pass on any orders to the fitter, not sure why, perhaps for his records, gets paid commission, who knows, but it should get ordered today Thursday 12th and I think the turn.....
