New Phone

As it says need a new phone. Dont want to spend a lot (I tend to leave them lying around and the dogs run off with them). No Iphone to dear. But would like a cheapish Android phone. Any ideas from the teccies out there would be great thanks.

The HTC Desire is still a top phone!! Will cost over £250, the HTC Wildfire is another good one!!

Just had a look at the "Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini". I can get it new for £90. Is it any good?

Got an HTC desire S on O2. Not hugely impressed. Battery life is ok, signal strength is terrible, internet drops in and out.

No. Sony Android phones are horrible.

For Android, stick with HTC and Samsung and the Nexus 1

Well just ordered a "HTC Wildfire S" on talk mobile. Phone free, half price rental £9 mth. 300 free mins &1000 txt. So not bad. Now I can get GPS for my course and SATNAV. All that mucking about just for that lol.

Make sure you download an app called AppKiller. It shows you everything that's running on the phone and lets you turn them off. Really helps battery life after a charge.

my missus has this phone. some very good things but one very frustrating thing. non-predictive texting is a nightmare - for some crazy reason, to access the 3rd letter or symbol (like C or O for example) requires pressing the key, pressing a down button, pulling a drop-down menu and then selecting the 3rd letter or any of the other various symbols.

On every other phone ever invented, when predictive is OFF you just press the ABC or MNO button 3 times. Takes 0.5 seconds. On experia, this can take AGES.

other than that, excellent overall - she loves it.
