Been on the hunt for a new big dog to replace my long but erratic XL Custom

Tried a friends 913 d3 10.5 yesterday down the range and was hitting it consistently well, high long and with good dispersion.

Alternating shots with my XL 9 degree, the difference was day and night. The occasional bomb, with a few hooks and pushes thrown in (as normal)

The 913 on the other hand was steady and long. Very happy

Got home and started to read up on the new 915 and was intrigued by how much of an improvement it had been for some people over the 913

So

Headed into AG on my lunch and tested the Nike covert 2.0 tour, Wilson FG Tour, 913 D2 and 915 d2.

The Nike just wanted to slip out my hands and the wrap grip rendered the club useless in my (sweaty) hands. The Wilson was very tinny and very short. Really underwhelmed unfortunately as i really like the look of the club. The 913 went the same as yesterday and was very nice

The 915 however was a beast. I will not say carry distances on here for obvious reasons, but i was very happy. Got the ball right out there even though i did not feel i was not swinging that well. I absolutely nailed one that threw up some superb numbers.

Now the dilemma

£350 is a heck of a lot to spend on one club. Far to much for my current budget. However i loved the club.

So i jumped on Ebay and saw the deal i wanted.

I had to be quick to react as there was only 3 minutes left

I placed my bid and was instantly outbid. I raised my bid again just as the countdown hit 5 seconds.....

Yes

I won!!!!

anyway

Just thought i would let you know that i am now the proud owner of a really sexy 10.5 degree, stock stiff shafted

Ping i25 driver

:D

Funny how things pan out

Happy for you that you have a new club however I find it a bit weird youve gone and tried a load of different drivers and then bought one you have never laid your hands on.

Happy shooting though :)

I have hit the i25 before and got on very well with it.

also had a shot of a fellow forum members i20 last year and loved the weight and feel of balance of it

I would have put this at the end of my post, but might have ruined the comedy impulse buyer idiot theme :o

ha

I discounted the i25 early because of the cost, but i found a bargain second hand one today (a real bargain!) so took the plunge

Just need to flog my XL Custom now

Happy days

First outing down the range tonight

impressed to be fair. The extra loft is really helping me get the ball high. Unsure of carry distances as it was pretty dark down the bottom of the range, but it felt like it was flying of the face (lovely sound too).

Ball seemed to just hang in the air when struck well and i cant wait to get down again tomorrow on my lunch to see it in day light.

Very forgiving i think. Still very capable of a big push or random hook, but much, much easier to hit than my old XL Classic Cleveland.

Quality bit of kit and i am already smitten with my first ever Ping club

If i can start hitting more fairways i genuinely think i can get to under 15 this year. Fingers crossed
