I agree totally craw, for me a world number 1 without a major seems to carry less credentials so to speak. I know #1 is #1, and some will argue to get there through no major win but consistency may have been harder, it just seems no major win does feel right. We wouldn't expect to see a f1 champion with no gp win Which is basically the same principle.
