Well now the inevitable has been officially announced .. Martin O Neill and Roy Keane are to lead the most promising football team we have in years ,

Martin O Neill .. Ok my jury is still out on him , i do believe he is a good manager but is he international management material? , i hope so as we have some good current players , a great crop of players coming through and some players rejected by Trapatoni [sp] who want to come back .. I think MoN can get the very best out of some of these

Now the crux for me

Keane ..... total bully boy , no doubt he was a great player but the days of bully management are gone , players wont take it and wont work for idiots like that ..

What is he bringing to the fold ? maybe some more professionalism from the FAI , if they allow that to happen .. they will do so much but it aint Man Utd plc , and thats what keane will want..

He is and was the major catalyst behind the saddest days in Irish football , in 2009 he was still bad mouthing the people who now appoint him

I see good times ahead for Irish Football , but I dont like the appointment of Keane ,

Any thoughts ?

Do you have some brick crap house built central defenders?
Do you have some snarling midfielders?
Do you have some muckle hUge target men forwards?

If not things won't work as that is the only style that MON has.

Awful football to watch but you are right in saying that he does tend to get the best out of average players.

I am convinced things won't work out as MON is a vastly over rated football manager IMO.

Think we might be ok on the defender status AL.. God mix of strong but nasty & tidy footballers in the mid

Have Sammon but he is more a donkey than a fish :D Shane Long or Robbie Keanr wont come into

am more worried bout the clown Keane than MoN tho

Has someone explained to him he can't spend millions upon millions trying to buy a team yet?

If not, he may walk away (his usual) when he realises :p

Personally wouldn't want him near my team nor my country as I also feel he is vastly overrated but time will tell I guess

Not very many good options that will work for the FAI tho Steve .. aaaaaaaaaaaaagh i cant believe they let Keane near the place

He slammed ex players turned TV pundits and said he would never do it .. Ha guess what .........

He virtually stated he hated the head of the FAI, but it took John Delaney 37 seconds to know Roy was the right man for the job ..

Sick bucket please and quick

Is Delaney still in charge at the FAI? That man is a clown right enough, nearly as bad as Neil Doncaster at the SFA.

Hope it works out for Ireland but I don't think it will plus O'Neil is a hard man to like and Keane just seems to be saying lately whatever he thinks will create a bit of controversy.

Ive lost interest in the National Team mate , would still like to see them do well as this is the best crop of youngsters i think we have ever had , and i use to follow them alot , had a reserved seat in Lansdowne and did quiet a few day trips ,

We were in Austria around Sept 1995 i think , we went down to the training ground on the tuesday before we went to the U21 game to get a few photos and autographs etc as usual ,( we use to do one 3 or 4day trip in a qualifying campaign and a few day trips) get the tricolour autographed etc,, we werent let near the team after training..

we got thumped 3-1 , Niall Quinn was the only one to walk over and applaud the crowd , i swore to the lads it was my last game ever , they laughed at me at the time .. i was true to my word tho ..

This is the same Roy Keane who walked out of the World Cup because the manager would not do things his way.
That should set a good example to his team.

I did laugh at MoN saying ' I'm bad cop and he's bad bad cop'.

Think it is a panic appointment and short sighted. Players have long memories and will be aware of what Keane did at the WC and his reputation and won't take any crap which then makes O'Neill's position ultimately untenable

I was quite happy for O'Niell to corm to my team (Crystal Palace) and felt he is a good man manager. Keene - I wouldn't give him a shift in Burger King!

Neil Doncaster has nowt to do with the SFA so he might not be too bad then ;)

It won't work. The only good thing is he can't tie players down on long contracts worth huge amounts of cash per week and ruin the next two or three managers

Good debate by pundits on our terrestrial CL commentary last night , they were asking Liam Brady what he thought Keanes place was and why MoN picked him ..

He reckons he is there because MoN wants honest answers off his 2nd in command , not just a a yes man .. he reckons some of Keanes best work will be behind closed doors and behind the scenes..

interesting but im Still not sure tho , as i said i hope they do well .. will never be a fan of RK again
