New forum section

I think the lounge should state, "come inside and discuss golf".

I also think "Other Sports" would be a good addition and I don't believe it would dilute the forum IMO, I think it should be kept separate to "OOB".

If a thread is boring/irrelavent after a few lines then just hit the back key... its that easy.

So can people discuss other sports like cricket ?

Lots of golfers like football - lots of people that used to play football progress into golf and will naturally talk about football

The amount of football threads in comparison to other subjects is an extremely small percentage - they are not "dominating" as you suggest

The out of bounds section is for all discussions non golf related - football is non golf related , as is all other sports ,as is politics , current affairs etc

Is it just football that should go ?

If you don't like the football threads the answer is very very simple - don't read them

Phil, I don't read them but I was just expressing my view about football topics on a golf forum being out of character with the nature of this forum . I still don't get it but as long as there are some that enjoy it and the majority do not object then that is fine.

But its not JUST a golf forum, is it, that's why there's an OOB, to discuss anything other than golf in 'The Lounge', which is the designated golfing discussion area, , I find it hard to believe that some people just don't get that, if you don't want to read or discuss anything other than golf, stay in the lounge, simples!

I didn't say that I was unwilling to discuss anything other than golf , I expressed my opinion that football didn't excite me enough to join in the debates and my lack of understanding as to why anyone wants to talk about the game on here.

I don't see what all the fuss is about, you like to discuss football in the OOB section and I don't , simples! :mmm:

How about a newbie section, or even a sticky on the rules page for FAQs? Gives us newbies the knowledge without the fear of asking what could be deemed as stupid monotonous questions.

And a a personal one I'd like to see is sticky on sayings or meanings. Ie hitting through the ball, i think I understand what it means, but maybe just a line or two would clear things up.

anyway just a thought. It's only taken me 10 days to think these up. You gotta catch me when I'm hot!

I think the only potential issue is that when there are a lot of football threads, going in the OOB seems like it is all about football. And these threads get such swift replies, that all non-football can be pushed onto 2nd/3rd pages. With a football sub forum, it could be that the OOB gets a more diverse selection of threads, and also all of the footballers can find their threads in one place together!

I understand why golfers want to talk about football to each other and I'm not suggesting they shouldn't.
The point I was trying to make was that I think it deserves its own section.

Website Feedback has had 6 threads this MONTH

Post a review has had 5 threads this MONTH

Golf pictures has had 2 threads this MONTH

yet they all have their own section.

How many football threads have there been this WEEK?

I think any subject that has that many threads deserves its own section.

Excellent point, well made.

Football needs it's own section.

All these football threads... it's almost as if there was a major football tournament on at the moment......

Not to mention the PL Countdown where people are already talking about next season.
Dont you want your own section for football?

Not fussed either way. Although non football threads probably outnumber football by 15 to 1 its just that the footy threads are always busy and near the top.

Football has had 25 threads this month and doesnt have its own section

Perhaps we should close those other ones due to lack of intrest.....

Rather than its own section I would prefer if there was just one generic football thread. That way everything football related goes in there and folk can stay clear if they don't want to know.

Nah, to many different areas and discussion points would make it a mess.
