If you were in charge of the forum, what new sections would you add if any?

I would have a new section for all things football.
As football seems to have more threads than 'post a review', 'Your Golf Pictures' and website feedback' put together, I think it's time it had it's own section.
It would keep all the arguements in one place and would also help those who aren't interested in football to avoid the posts.

Id like to see the forums move to a mobile version like they have at Golf magic and Golf WRX. A for football, just dont read the posts if you dont like them.

Agree with Bob. A football sub-forum would be great. Given that it dwarfs other topics it would seem to be common sense.

I would welcome any device that helps me avoid these threads.

Have not thought about new, but I struggle with what the difference is between the Lounge and Out of Bounds sections. Maybe if they were split more clearly so one was related to golf and one wasn't then that may work?

I'd suggest Ask the Experts be changed to Ask the Forum. Suspect many questions currently end up in the above sections.

The lounge is for golf related stuff, while OOB is for non golf stuff

Hope that helps

Because a great deal of golfers are also football fans so will naturally talk about football or indeed many other sports

Think an "Other Sports" section could be work

Oh and the device to avoid football threads in normally either your mouse or finger and not clicking on the thread - that way you are obvious to any football talk

Not sure id change it much if at all , the forum is pretty well set up IMO ,

i suppose a few newbies get caught out with the "come in discuss anything " of the lounge if they haven't read the description of the OOB "for off topic stuff "

In the for sale section if item is sold or removed i think removing/deleting the post altogether would free up space if needed
(probably not needed)..
As for the footy ones i guess it comes with knowing the forum after a while you just know where its going and might i add who will be taking it there :) and dont read it after first few posts ..

Post no.5

And every thread you mention there is clearly about football

And if you do go to read it after being unsure and find it's football etc then click the back button and you are out of it.

It's not like any damage is done - it's only words on a forum.

Thanks Phil. Guess it helps for a short while for anyone who reads this - but the page itself reads.

The Lounge
Come inside and discuss anything!

Out of Bounds
For off topic stuff

Any chance of updating it?

I see what you are saying g but as it is a golf forum primarily I have always took it to mean come in and discuss anything golf wise (the topic) and anything off topic goes in out of bounds.

In relation to the opening question where do you draw the line? A subsection for it/computers or what about cars? Personally I feel it is fine the way it is, too many sections will dilute the forum.

Me neither, go to a football forum and enjoy the banter on there. It is only discussed on here because it's convenient for those interested not to have to switch between forums.

So should we only discuss golf then ?

No current affairs ? Nothing about work ?

When you play golf do you only talk about golf with your FC ?

The out of bounds section is a good place to discuss anything that is not golf related and long may it be so, but football is another sport and I am sure there are many places on the web to talk non stop about the game. The bit that I don't get is why would anyone want to tak about football on a golf forum?

It just seems a bit much when the football threads start to dominate an area that other people don't find that interesting.

So can people discuss other sports like cricket ?

Lots of golfers like football - lots of people that used to play football progress into golf and will naturally talk about football

The amount of football threads in comparison to other subjects is an extremely small percentage - they are not "dominating" as you suggest

The out of bounds section is for all discussions non golf related - football is non golf related , as is all other sports ,as is politics , current affairs etc

Is it just football that should go ?

If you don't like the football threads the answer is very very simple - don't read them
