Hi

I currently have a TM Burner Bubble 2 10.5 R which is 13-14 yrs old. Played last week and can hit it OK but my playing partner suggested i could add 30-40 yds with a modern driver. I have Ping G15 irons and was fitted for a G15 driver before Xmas.

I like my pro shop but he's limited with what brands he carries. He can fit for Ping, Titleist and Nike.

Question - should I stick with the Pro who will no doubt help me or get a wider choice by travelling to the Belfry so I can try TM etc.

Must be said the G15 / i15 have had excellent reviews.

Many thanks

Out of interest, is it on the conforming list of legal drivers? I think your pro will be able to help as he probably knows your swing and so can advise you better than say a guy from American Golf. Why not go to other ranges/pro shops or places like AG and try as many as you can first and then decide which ones you like and whether your pro can help

David. I remember the Bubble Burners...I used to use one in anger around the Lickey Hills in B'ham.
I'm sure it's more than legal.....I think this type of club pre-dates all the C.O.R. limits etc.

As for 30-40 yards....forget it. It ain't going to happen. No way Jose. Not unless you are beast waiting to unleash your warp speed on a massively bigger face. The sweet spot will be the same as ever, just the forgiveness will blow your mind.

If you were "fitted" for a G15, why didn't you go for it?

Modern drivers DO go further. A huge hitting area will give you SO much forgiveness on off-centre hits. What are you waiting for?

Go and try a few. If you ask me, the advantage over something like a bubble burner will be in the less good hits as opposed to the good hits. I could take my 15 y.o. Callaway to the course tomorrow. Out the centre on a cracking drive.....a few yards, slightly off centre....no comparison.

:)

listen to this man, I went to a Nevada bobs with my own driver, a D2, a g15, V2 rapture, g10 and a Nike something or other.
I was left to my own devices and the g15 came out, for me, head and shoulders above the rest with better spin characteristics, distance and shape. I had vouchers etc so I did a trade for them and my old driver and It only cost me 30 quid to trade for a brand new g15 stiff which I absolutely love.

Cheers everyone appreciate the advice. Might pop into AG today but will give a good go tomorrow on the range with the Pro.

Hope you all score well on a scorching w/e

Just be a bit wary about the launch monitor in AG. Don't take it as gospel.
