In this era of technology and fancy advertising has a change to a different type of iron or wood had a positive effect on your game or not...

Im interested to see how many people have actually changed there clubs and genuinely dropped shots off there handicap.

Tricky one this for me.
I had Cally X-20 Tour irons and they dropped me from 13 to 10 in 2 years so they must have been working.
Changed to the Mizzys and I dropped to 8 6 months so they must have been working too. Would I have dropped to 8 with the X-20's????
Years ago, investing in the original Great Big Bertha dropped me from 12 to 8 in a matter of months though.

Murg, I have a friend that has played Callaway since he too up the game....They've always been the G.I type...He plays off 7 and he reckons that Callaways are the most forgiving iron on the market today.

Always liked the X20 Tours but the shaft was a bit soft for me. Initially they were fine but my swing improved over time and got stronger so the PX5.0 felt a little soft, hence the S300's now.

I've no doubt my clubs have helped my game. When I started playing I bought myself a package set of Wilsons (all clubs, bag, balls included etc) and whilst they were decent enough I felt I reached a point where I was being held back, especially having tried other peoples clubs. My R9 transformed my game off the tee and my irons which I got in October last year are 2 if not 3 clubs longer. I took my Wilsons with me when I went iron shopping so I could see the difference and was amazed. My old putter also felt unpredictable and the change in that also helped, with more consistency. Saying that, I also had a set of very productive lessons over last summer so they too are a contributing factor to my improvement but I've no doubt that the clubs I have now are better than what I started with! :)
