Finally got fitted for new clubs today with my pro, managed to get it done just before the wind picked up to much.

The outcome was a swing speed of 78ish, 2deg up and 0.5" longer, so my new X-20's will be here in the next 2 weeks. Managed to have a swing with my driver on the launch monitor, 90mph swing speed and everythng looking fine so he suggested there is no need to change my driver which is a bit unfortunate but if it aint broke dont fix it!!
He is also going to re-loft my 60 LW to 58 for free

need advice on the price 4-PW and 52deg with £100 for my old NDS's £380, seems to be not to bad, have not paid for them yet have to wait till they come in.

Price seems ok from what i can see online.

All in all happy enough, for anyone interested
6 iron carry was 155-160
driver 210-220

I would suggest that its also too late to back out now that the order is placed.

I really think this custom fitting is a farce, I mean it sends people who would normally be rational into a consumer rage. If you are over 6'2" or under 5'5" then you need the customer fitting if not why bother its going to make minimal change to your game. As I have said before, golf is 80% mental and if spending more on custom clubs makes you feel just as good as me with standard more fool you.

I would suggest that you are more the fool with that attitude.

Custom fit offer so much more than a few shots hooked up to a computer.

Craw, i am not going to back out of the sale, was just looking at price comparisons. The pro is a good guy and would probably match any price elsewhere.

For me if custom fitting makes the game easier i do not think it is a bad thing, it showed that i was hitting my clubs with a higher launch than i should have been, there for loosing about 15 yards. The lie angle can be adjusted if my game changes, so i dont see the problem with doing the custom fitting.

The fitting session was free and the clubs are coming in at a competitive price compared to off the shelf clubs, so i have not spent more on getting clubs fitted.

I was not having a go, it just seems that people with mid hcp talking about gaining a theoretical few yards by a spotty teenager at AG doesn't wash on me. It seems a desperate attempt by the high street to get people from buying online, which is by far the cheaper option.

Time and time again, why do people think height is the main principle of custom fitting!!!!

Do i write my posts for the sake of it????

As someone who has just picked up his new custom X20's I'm sure you will be striking the ball much better. Despite Parmo's protests I am a mid handicapper and know that for my height (6 foot) and my swing speed I have the right club with the right shaft. I also have thinner grips as my hands are small which stops them becoming too active.

Enjoy them when they come. As long as you are happy with then and feel you got a fair price no more needs to be said

Mass can i ask you did you use range balls or was it normal golfballs, Mvp i know we dont agree on custom fitting irons, but even i understand height has nothing to do with custim fit.

Divot,

They were Wilson range balls, now i have a question for all of you. Is there a big varation between range balls and your top end balls, i realise that there will be more spin thus any off centre or dodgy swings will cause the ball to go more of track than range balls, but will there be more distance.

Cheers tpred, think distance will be the main thing to get used to but as you say i have time to get used to them before the season starts. Seem to be getting 15-20 more yards out of the 6 iron compared to my own.

Yes big difference. 15 yrds of distance and a hell load of spin.

I got fitted for my x20's at A.G and it didnt cost me a penny, I also did my home work and got 4-pw for £419 because thats the cheapest i could find em online. Best thing to do is find a discount golf shop that is selling them brand new and get them to price match them. A.G also priced matched the bag i wanted too.

These days ya can get custom fitted and buy ysa clubs on the high street for the same price as the cheapest online site. You also get a decent warrenty online and if i have any problems then A.G are always more than willing to sort me out!

Its ok getting the best price but there is no long term benefit. I will always support my pro(s) without doubt.

I would rather pay £50 extra in the short term, this leads to certain benefits for example, I probably had £200 worth of free tuition in 2007 and have had essentially 2 free lessons in '08 already.

I have a negative oppinion of AG based on the fact that I have been there twice and on both occasions have had a patronising little gob-shite get right on my spuds.

I'm sure many others have had good experiences.

Everyone is different, no doubt about that but i dont have a 'pro' to go to so A.G was good for that.
