Has Now Found His Wedgie
Ordered my Ping G15's on Tuesday, expected next week, arrived yesterday afternoon. Went down to pick them up last night - forgot my pin number when trying to pay, but the pro let me take them any ways, happy for me to pay next week.
The clubs are 1/2 inch longer and 2 degrees up, been hitting a loan 7 iron very well. First tee even my G15 driver behaved well, straight down the middle coming up just short of the 150 yd marker on 420 yd hole. Pulled out the 6 iron and managed to faff it about 100 yds, not the best start. Used the wedge to chip on and 2 putt.
Par 3 second, not much better, missed the green with a big power fade right
, chipped on again and two putted. Didn't use them on 4, driver, sand iron (using my old MD Seve icon - never gonna that up) from the bunker, and again to chip on, for 2 putts.
Fourth, 340 yd par 4, hit the 5 iron to 160 yds and then put a 7 iron right into the back of the green for 2 putts and first par of the round.
B0llxd the par 5 5th for a 7, although had a good up and down from a bunker. From then on, all was good, hit par on the last 4 holes. Shot of the day appears to be on the 7th, it's a par 5, I tried to take on the corner and clipped the top of the oak dropping to the side. My GPS measured 296 to the middle, since I was playing around with the irons, I thought I'd try 7 iron to 150 and same again to the green (having been hitting the loaner so well). I hit the 7 straight down the middle, so sweet, watching the ball it hit the deck somewhere around the 150 yd marker but didn't see it bounce or run. The Ping fitter told me these clubs wouldn't run much. Wandered down to find the ball almost 30 yds inside the 150 marker, GPS read 115 to the middle. Maybe my GPS was a little wrong (although it has stacked up against others and a Nikon range finder before), but that works out at 180 yd 7 iron.......
. Or it could of been when I hit the pin when chipping on the par 3 9th after coming up short of the green.
I'm sure it will take a while to get used to them, but from my view, that was a good first 9 holes - I'm told the magic dust lasts a few months. Can't wait to take them out for 18 tomorrow (can't play today due to other commitments).
Any ways am happy boy with shiny new bats.
